One such example of a proper approach to moderation, other than an outright ban would be to filter the word "literally" wholesale. A few good examples for replacements: niggardlyly (the joke being the second "ly" is still technically more grammatically accurate - a truly patrician parodical term, built upon an already perfect word), exaggeratively, or the phrasing, "From an Afro-American perspective."
