>>25294980Because Western writers are massive simps and gynocratic slaves
>>25294980because falling in love is always irrational, often self destructive, and is experienced by almost every grown adult in the world. all women are whores, so if you've fallen in love, you're in the MC's position.

>>25294980>why is this so COMMONEasy conflict. You could write a story where the protagonist or main character has a loving wife or girlfriend or a crush that reciprocates, and many have, but then that kind of eliminates a goal for the character to pursue, and it's one less reason for the reader to silently cheer the protag on. Also the literal whore acts as a pseudo villain, even if she's not treating the MC badly, the reader knows that any type or relationship with her is doomed to fail and so she becomes an easy target to hate and just another obstacle for the protag to work around or through.
>>25294980let he among us, who has never fallen in love with a whore, cast the first stone. If you haven't fallen in love with a whore, sorry to break it to you, but you're poor
