for the record every book is worse than the last, if you don't like this one don't even bother with the sequelthe shrike does the most killing in the soldier's story
>>25297396Is that in the first book? They're telling the stories by turns right?
>>25297407yep
>>25297436Alright, you gave me some hope at least. I was craving to see the Shrike do some killing, so far he only looked hypothetical. I was wondering if he was real at all, lol.
>>25297477he's real, but there is no resolution on the book's central mystery of what the shrike actually is and whether he will be friend or foe to humanity in a predicted coming war between humans and robots. It was meant to be like the Canterbury Tales and just be a disparate set of stories without a conclusion to its narrative.I enjoyed the soldier's story the most.
The whole thing turns out to be just AI BAD. Kinda prophetic.
>>25299982It inspired the plot for Halo books btw
