Notable with this one how 'DEI' or whatever the chuds are mad about with the disney live action movies is just not a serious concern if the movie and actors are actually just really fucking good.

They did a great job putting the great parts in the movie and removing the retard weirdo shit (the huge vaginas plotline for example).
>>
A great adaptation for their target audience and aim. They managed to capture Frollo and Quasimodo personalities. Esmeralda should have been far less of a virgin Mary archetype though.

>Esmeralda should have been far less of a virgin Mary archetype though

There’s no way they were going to go full into how raunchy the original book was. It’s a miracle they got away with as much as they did.

This purported 'le kino,' bored the heck out of me. Couldn't finish. Interesting part for Burt Lancaster though. Delon is in actually good movies, you know. Or is it too normie to like Ripley and Le Samouraï?

Both the movie and the book are pretty shit. Why am I supposed to care about the aristocracy being replaced when the protagonist himself doesn't seem to care and is just aimlessly going about his day? He doesn't believe in anything more than supercicially, and the fact that he concedes so much to the revolutionaries just makes him a hypocrite.
>>
>>25297870
It’s explained that he’s jaded and is just too old to give a fuck anymore. He knows that the revolutionaries are going to be just as bad, if not worse than the aristocracy, but the flow of history means that their takeover is inevitable. All he can do is make sure himself and his family are safe even if it means betraying his class and traditions.

You have to look at both the book and movie in respect of the periods they were released. The Giacomo book is a call to arms for Italian nationalists and Girabaldists in the 1860s to reject modernity while the Delon/ Lancaster movie is a nostalgic look at the now long gone aristocracy of Italian life of the preceding century rendering it no different from a Vienna operetta or White telephone movie.

Lampedusa and Visconti were also both actual Italian aristocrats, so it’s actually quite appropriate they did both the novel and movie respectively.

Visconti is an elder god-tier director that doesn’t get enough credit in modern film buff spheres. His adaptations of Death in Venice and Senso are also masterpieces. The former being interesting because Visconti was also openly a fag, which explains how he knew that Bjorn Andersen would be the perfect cast pick for Tadzio.

I get the context, but it still gives me no reason to care about some old cosmopolitan faggot indulging in shallow nostalgia while actively selling out tp freemasons and jews to save his own skin, especially when the aristocracy are shown as little more than airy fruits who don't really believe in anything, especually with Visconti ending up being a faggot Marxist anyway. Eric Rohmer did a better job showing the fadinv dignity of the aristocracy against the tide of degenerate revolutionaries with The Lady and The Duke.

William Friedkin’s last movie was a remake of this.
