I bought a kobo ereader recently and what even is the point of it? I went to the kobo book store website and it's all just smut and slop. I can't find Jung to put on it or the books I want, and when I do find it as ebook it's like proprietary and 10-50 dollars. Why would I pay money for a book I can't own?
>inb4 get books from project gutenberg or internet archive
the internet archive books are not proper epubs the files are huge and all fucked up and project gutenberg doesnt have the books i want.
also fuck kobo for making me make another account on something that doesn't need account. and fuck captcha.

people should have to go through a computer literacy test before being allowed to buy electronics

dude you can pirate every single book that's been published ever and put them all on your e reader. you're fucking retarded if you didn't realize this

I love these little magical tablets like you wouldn't believe.
>lightweight, as easy as holding an old calculator
>no pages to flip through
>no dust and mold
>fits my entire library
>can read in public without being performative
>can read books that cost half my monthly wages
>can read books I can't find in my country's market
I love them so much I buy physical books and still download the epub to read it on the e-reader. The only problem is reading history books where you need to constantly reference dates, names, locations but I just read those in physical form. E-ink is the greatest invention of the century.

Electronics shouldn't have become so user friendly. There needs to be a certain level of difficulty to use electronics.
Sadly, the race to have the most user friendly devices will always win, even though it's at the cost of your brain.

Why the fuck would you buy e-books you stupid nigger-nigger-nigger. Holy Niggers.

I like them for when I go camping. I charge my kindle before and don’t have to worry about battery life.
>>
>>25300373
I had to go through 700 books in my parents dusty and moldy garage, and with an ereader I can read every single one of them. It takes up almost no space whatsoever and I don't have to worry about any dust, mold, or poop on any of the books. Its perfect.
>>
I have found every book I've ever wanted to read on Zlib in either epub or pdf format that fit my old kindle perfectly. Not sure wtf OP is going on about

That being said, my favorite way to read a book is in an aged paperback format. Something about the feel and smell of older paperback is comforting.

When it comes to physical books I just buy them. Sometimes I borrow them from the library.
For ebooks it's kind of 50/50. I buy 50% of the ebooks online - the other 50% I do pirate.
It is true what the other anons say: You can get any book pirated ( = for free but illegal).
Like I said, I still buy some and don't pirate everything, because I want to support the authors I like :-)

What e-reader to get bros
>>
>>25300221
Standard Ebooks is a website that provides well formatted ebooks for works that are in public domain.
This will likely not have all of the books that you want, but hopefully it will have some.

I just use the kindle and nook apps on my phone. I don't know why you guys have to be so gay and cringe and insufferable and have to purchase a standalone computer tablet just to read digital books.
>>
>>25302298

what's gay and cringe is reading on a phone screen. bad for your eyes and you have to contend with all the *bing bing wahoo* attention-stealing app notifications.

E-ink has a very different feel to it. It's not light-emitting in the way a your ordinary phone-screen is even when said phone-screen is on its lowest brightness settings with a blue-light filter to boot.

why do people pay money for these things though if you can just read on your phone? Do these ereaders even allow you to download note-taking apps like Obsidian?
>>
>>25302383
I mean, I could be schizophrenic; I won't argue that point. But, as I was swilling my meds around, I just wondered, have you ever seen an e-ink display through your own neuro-typical eyes? Or looked up how they work compared to phone/tablet/tv screens? I ask because this seems a strange hill to die on.
>>
>>25302383
He's right you insufferable faggot. If you haven't used both before to compare then stfu
>>
My ten year old Kobo is dying. I see the new Kindle scribe is 11 inches, is bigger always better if I read PDFs and am too lazy to process them? I don't need glasses and colour eink sucks.

What are the arguments against "Kobo Elipsa 2E" or "PocketBook - InkPad One" ?
>>
>>25302748
Stop responding to an obvious newfag who only wants to "debate" his personal opinion while insulting everybody who doesn't agree with his psychosis.
>>
>>25303009
There is zero reason to buy the Kobo over the Pocketbook so it is between the Kindle and the Pocketbook.
The Kindle has a Higher DPI screen and is bigger. This is because Eink is run like a cartel and Amazon pay for timed exclusivity of the new screens.
I don't care about it being locked down since it will be in Airplane mode and get everything through Calibre anyway.
Regarding the UI reading PDFs, Kindle is faster and Pocketbook is more customisable, which is odd because the Pocketbook has more RAM and a better processor. Pocketbook seems to suck with optimisation.
>>
>>25302497
Fucking kill yourself, parasite
>>
>>25302706
How embarrassing.
>>
>>25302931
I'm fine with reading on an 8" screen so I prefer my Libra 2 with a larger SD card in it, and KOReader can kind of handle zooming in automatically if it's really necessary
>>
>>25303028
Why is Kobo better than PocketBook? I thought they are similar
>>
>>25303363
All of Kobos recent models have colour screens nobody wants and they jacked up the prices on the older models. The Elipsa 2e is the best thing they ever made but it was a massive flop for some reason.
>>
Oning a physical, dedicated ereader is tranny-coded behavior.

oh no you're new to 4chan and being intentionally inflammatory D:

You get the books on libgen or your library

They are easier on the eyes and more portable than a PC or laptop, easier on the eyes than an iPad, larger screen than a phone, easier to store than a physical book
