picrel, unironically. the kicker is you have to actually enjoy it. the deeper kicker is that this is easy because poetry is the highest form of literature

that reminded me of a time i had coffee with a coworker in her office which had no windows and like a full couch which might have been a folded up futon and talked about literature i only remember now cuz she killed herself like the bell jar chick. she looked like prime gillian anderson except her depression meds had caused her to gain weight. i suppose i would have but she just did nothing at all to be seductive. a hornier dude without autism prob could have got it in.

I recited the beginning of Auguries of Innocence to a girl and we had passionate sex for a week straight. I miss her big pale tits dearly.

Just be skinny, dress well, smell good, have a job, full head of hair, your own place, little savings, mixed sex friend circle, left-center leaning, active instagram account with over 50 pics and 200 followers. This is minimum prerequisite to play dating game with hot young girls in 2026.

Books? Just tell her your favorite movie is Amélie.

This board - this site - is so dead. It's an asinine thread topic, but still. The sheer lack of imagination and effort on display here is astounding. 4chan is filled with the online equivalent of house flies at this point.

No-one here reads. No-one beyond this board really reads either. Not anymore... not if they're under 35. But you'd expect people on the literature board to read at least a little. People just come here to criticise authors they've never engaged with in an effort to fit in with other low effort, meandering underachievers. People whose involvement with literature is almost entirely predicated on second, or even third hand, resentment. It's fucking sad. It's so fucking sad what this site has become.

The fact that we're all now expected to take grimy applications like Instagram seriously in the midst of this is also an indictment of things generally. Can you imagine a neolithic man taking something like Instagram seriously? Letting it influence his life or his thoughts in any way? Think about that. Think about what you're doing as a man when you're tip tapping on your bullshit little screen for the chance at some attention from a woman who, in all likelihood, would have been considered average, and who would have been the one actively pursuing you, if this were the 1990s or early 2000s.

I could never get with a Bell Jar chick cause she'd invariably start reciting the fig tree write-up in the middle of our evening weekend walk and I'll end up interrupting it by asking, "Just fucking pick one, bitch, you'll have decades left regardless."

No, it was never high effort.
The board is archived at least back to 2010-ish, but even before then it was low-effort and almost high school tier. We used to have new 1983 threads every day. I guess some people are nostalgic for stupid shit like Brown Bear's "only less slutty" greentext stories, but it's not like those were high quality or effort.

pic rel. Looks exactly like the catalog today.

it was never high effort, but the board took a hit from election tourists post '16 and never recovered from covid tourists post '20. there was a VERY brief period in the early 20teens when /lit/ was occasionally a good place to discuss literature, but that more has to do with twitter not being entrenched and reddit still stuck on sffslop. /lit/ was always faggy and retarded but it used to be less aggressively so

you guys seem to know a lot about women
I get approached, but I have no clue how to treat them. I think the problem, at least in my country, is that they expect the man to do everything

this is the price you pay for not having to worry about getting raped. it's annoying but best not to bitch about this too much because it makes you sound like a faggot

actually, I was "raped" (taught to have sex) by a teenage girl at like 6.
I guess I've always been good looking... I remember having girls grab my hand, and women tell gift me food and stuff just by asking (my mom was poor and I guess she'd have me ask for free food at the bakery).
I don't complain, I legit have no clue how to treat them. plus I avoided any kind of relationship for a long time because I don't trust people much.
>>
It’s a great book called the three sixs. You need to have six inch cock, six feet height an make six figures. A six pack doesn’t hurt either, girls like abs

years ago during a lunar eclipse I took my gf outside to look at it and put on the Isao Tomita synth version of "Clair de Lune". Thought it'd be perfect because the title translates to "moonlight" and it's a synth version which is space-vibes, plus she didn't know the eclipse was happening so it'd be a cute little surprise. She looked at it for like 30 seconds and said "I'm going inside it's cold"
>>
>>25303011
Do you not find the fact that women are instinctive refreshing? Do you really want to live in a world where they're all big into romance and grand gestures? I think it'd be pretty kitsch.
>>
>>25303018
>I think it'd be pretty kitsch.
For sure, there's a balance imo. Doing romantic gestures can be fun but it has to be okay for it to not be too serious. If a girl was really into me doing romantic shit all the time and they couldn't be silly about it I wouldn't like it. Real romantic moments happen organically, anything pre-planned is inherently kinda tongue-in-cheek because we're clearly just trying to have fun by doing something you'd see in a book or movie.
For my eclipse story, in that moment I just thought it was funny how they couldn't recognize the romance I was trying to give. Me pointing that out and them laughing and saying sorry is a good outcome desu
>>

>>
>>25303634
>Dating a they/them schizo
You dodged a bullet but I wish you hadn't
>>
>>25303639
yeah, I hang in mostly music/art circles so it's kind of inevitable that a chunk of the people I meet are they/thems. I've met the schizo enby types who think any disagreement is "gaslighting" and are just waiting to correct somebody's behavior, but most they/thems I've met are chill, just regular women who prefer they/them for reasons I kind of don't care to understand lol.
There's plenty of shit I've had to extend myself for for a girlfriend's needs and I just saw it as another one. As long as they don't get mad at me for saying she/her occasionally and they're not a schitzo I don't really care. It's always just a couple months of fucking and watching movies with somebody cute for a while before it ends so whatever
>>
>>25303801

Is...is that it? Is that what having a girlfriend is?

Rippetoe - this I can respect as sound advice.
Carnegie - never read it, some people swear by it, but I am suspicious.
Nice guy, Glover - I don't remember a single thing from this book. It wasn't bad, but what the hell was the point, if it never made an impression? Not even with such a simple title. Seriously, does anyone care to remind me?
Manson - if I remember correctly, "drop your insecurities". He was a good writer, but not sure if the book had actionable advice.
>>
>>25300455
Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Twilight
>>
>>25303838
>anyone care to remind me?
It was basically
>Stop being a weak faggot
>>
>>25303824
yeah sometimes. I've had a decent number of girlfriends and all the ones that didn't really pan out to anything serious had a brief fun honeymoon phase that just devolved into sex and movies for a few months until deciding it's gotten boring. I've had a few that had a better connection and those were more meaningful and fun for longer so they're not all just that
>>
>>25303960
It's amazing that probably 80% of women alive today see nothing wrong with that. At least in both the Americas and Europe.
No book can fix that.
>>25303856
>>Stop being a weak faggot
Not very descriptive. Just skimmed through a blurb of the book and it seems like it is suited to scared young men and maybe addicts?
>>
>>25300479
When did men stop believing that being well traveled is important and virtuous? Of course others would want to hear about that
