ITT: The Most depressing book you read in high school for English Class
>>25304951Angela's Ashes, fucking bleak book about the author's childhood, growing up in extreme poverty in Ireland with an alcoholic deadbeat father who is physically abusive to the whole family. Mentions how his mother had a one night stand with the guy when she first arrived in Ireland from the US, and got pregnant from that, then had 2 more kids with him.There's a bit towards the end, the father is out of the picture by this point, the main character is like 16 goes to the pub for the first time, drinks a single pint of guinness which gets him completely drunk because he's been malnourished his whole life, goes home and starts beating up his mother.
