obviously the references to the beatles and john birch society show what time period it's set in, but yeah it's central theme holds up very well, sort of acknowledging how conspiracy theorists can very often get off base but the fact that they exist says something deeply sinister about whatever system americans live under.

don delillo is a similar case of a writer who is clearly set in a certain time but is still prescient. libra and underworld are both cold war books but honestly have probably aged better and better with time.

also i recommend pkd's a scanner darkly to anyone skeptical about the weed renaissance/survelliance state we're living in
