>>25307738Other anons made me get the Paul Kingsnorth book The Wake and it has a bit at the end saying it was essentially crowdfunded originally. I read up on Unbound only to find it collapsed in 2025. The successor company also burned out. On the one hand that's depressing and seems inevitable for these kinds of attempts, on the other they launched a couple of notables and had books on the best seller pages from just crowdfunding. The major lesson is that the difference between being published and just scraping together a readership is close to nil today.
