>>25310301Mayflower by Philbrick seems like an obvious choice. I second the Foote choice. Go straight to the source and read Rights of Man, some of the Federalist Papers? Or maybe a selection of Jefferson (pictured)? I'd add some fiction actually, try Gore Vidal's Burr and Lincoln.
