Just realized Jack London looks almost exactly like the guy who I smoked crack with when I was like 15.

>After having been an apprentice bricklayer, Jonson went to the Netherlands and volunteered to soldier with the English regiments of Sir Francis Vere in Flanders. England was allied with the Dutch in their fight for independence as well as the ongoing war with Spain.
>The Hawthornden Manuscripts (1619), of the conversations between Ben Jonson and the poet William Drummond of Hawthornden,[1] report that, when in Flanders, Jonson engaged, fought and killed an enemy soldier in single combat, and took for trophies the weapons of the vanquished soldier.[11]
>In 1597, a play which he co-wrote with Thomas Nashe, The Isle of Dogs, was suppressed after causing great offence. Arrest warrants for Jonson and Nashe were issued by Queen Elizabeth I's so-called interrogator, Richard Topcliffe. Jonson was jailed in Marshalsea Prison and charged with "Leude and mutynous behaviour", while Nashe managed to escape to Great Yarmouth. Two of the actors, Gabriel Spenser and Robert Shaw, were also imprisoned. A year later, Jonson was again briefly imprisoned, this time in Newgate Prison, for killing Spenser in a duel on 22 September 1598 in Hogsden Fields[11] (today part of Hoxton). Tried on a charge of manslaughter, Jonson pleaded guilty but was released by benefit of clergy,[1] a legal ploy through which he gained leniency by reciting a brief Bible verse (the neck-verse), forfeiting his "goods and chattels" and being branded with the so-called Tyburn T on his left thumb.
>John Marston and Ben Jonson satirized each other's poetics and personalities in a series of revenge comedies that Thomas Dekker called the "Poetomachia" or Poets' War. "He had many quarrells with Marston beat him & took his Pistol from him, wrote his Poetaster on him,"

my favorite author (I will not be posting his name as I don't want him to be memed on /lit/ when zoomer fucks find out how based he is)
>>

Jack London had a certain rude energy, no question (I don't know if the was a ladykiller particularly).

Ernst Junger was basically what Yukio Mishima LARPed as.

Ted Hughes is up there. Here's Eric Jong on their meeting:

The Elizabethans score very highly on testosterone levels but that isn't quite the same thing as chadliness. Not sure how generally attractive BJ was.

If you just want someone who got up to boisterous hijinks then Sir Thomas Malory (the Morte D'Arthur guy) is worth a look. He was head of a gang of highway robbers or burglars or something and was in and out of prison all his life.

One of the best (?) anecdotes about Malory: according to contemporary court records, he was found guilty of raping the wife of some guy or other, and sentenced to a few months in prison. Then when he got out he went and raped her again, was charged again, found guilty again.

You have to wonder what was going on behind the scenes there.

William Hope Hodgson

>The primary motivation of his body development was not health, but self-defence. His relatively short height and sensitive, almost beautiful face made him an irresistible target for bullying seamen. When they moved in to pulverize him, they would learn too late that they had come to grips with easily one of the most powerful men, pound for pound, in all England.

Jünger gets my vote
>one of the original WWI Stormtroopers
>stormed trenches with grenades and SMGs
>very high casualty rates
>gets shot on 8 occasions
>shot straight through his chest during the last offensive of the war
>keeps fighting while blood is frothing out of his wound
>finally collapses and is evacuated
>2 enemy soldiers corner the medics
>Jünger pulls his pistol and wastes both soldiers while laying on the stretcher
>awarded the Pour le Mérite while in the hospital
>eventually tries LSD, writes several books
>dies at 102
>smoked cigs his entire life
