I'm in a reading rut, and having a hard time figuring out what to read next. I was thinking something in the first person, lushly written, bordering on overly descriptive, like The Goldfinch. I'd like something slower, melancholy, downright depressing if need be. I've already read In Search of Lost Time. Any suggestions?

Under the Volcano - Malcolm Lowry
>>25316026Interesting. I'll certainly consider this.
>>25316019When I’m in a rut I find smaller books help because it’s less of a commitment. Aliss at the Fire by Jon Fosse is melancholy and can be read in only a few hours
>>25316033That's a good shout. I'll add it to the list of possibilities.

>>25316019picrel>The Goldfinchused to know a woman who had the bird on the cover tattooed between her tits. think she's in new york now. for a long while she would make these "I eat men like air fuck men I hate men" type posts and then post 'ugh he fucked me through the mattress like a slut ugh!' posts on a burner twitter account. many such cases as the saying goes. think she deleted that now though. haven't thought about her in a while
Why do you write like a fag?
>>25316262Because fuck you. I do what I want.
