Once you get into it it is a solid wham bam character focused action soap opera in space. Issues might arise if you go in expecting anything else. All in all I have very fond memories of it. The writing is solid, the characters are believable and stand out, there is action, drama, humor, and shenanigans. Tip top series.
The final book does introduce a rather questionable decision on the author's part, and personally i'm not buying it, but that is the only book in the series i take issue with. And if you ignore that, even that final book feels like a nice little epilogue to a long saga.
I recommend.

Huh now I'm curious
Straight front to back or a particular one better to start with than the first?

I have heard it said to start with Falling Free as it falls as the first book chronologically.

There is also a webpage where the author recommends the best order https://www.dendarii.com/reading_order.html

Usually i'm an unbending proponent of reading things in publishing order, but for this one i went with the author's suggested reading order and suffered no ill effects.
