i just found this book and most people haven't heard of it but i read it and i thought about it quite a lot
>>25324655Got 2014 /lit/stalgia from seeing this. That said, Tao Lin is fucking awful
>>253246702014 lit loved tao lin lol. I wonder where those guys are now and what they are doing.
>>25324670>Tao Lin is fucking awfulTaipei is great, why do people keep saying this. Also Tao, if you're reading this can i email you my novel?
this shit is from before 2010
>>25324655It's actually quite good in parts but at some point he tends to self-sabotage his fiction. Like suddenly introduce a talking dolphin in an overly silly way that undermines the narrative, like breaking the fourth wall. He did similar stuff in other works, too.
>>25324911>Taipei is great, why do people keep saying thisCertainly if you have read like 20 books in your entire life and they were read in before you were 18.
>>25325013which books from 2005+ do you think are good
>>25325039Crime and punishment
I quite enjoyed Taipei, and Richard Yates wasn't bad, although it feels kind of amateurish, so I imagine E is kind of the same as Richard Yates or potentially worse
>>25325293retarded chud larper
>>25324680>2014 lit loved tao lin lolYou fell for the memes + Tao Lin shilling himself posts>>25324911DUDE...drugs...DUDE...mushrooms>>25325039A Visit from the Goon Squad. The Tsar of Love and Techno. But reading 21stC fiction is largely a waste of time and I only do it to keep up on trends and see how lackluster it is compared to what I usually read.
