Well Jay! What did you think of Shadow Ticket by Pynchon?
>>
>>25328366
It's the biggest literary dud of the 2020s. Even The Passenger was better.
>>
>>25328366
These pop culture grandpas don't read anything. They just bitch and whine about Star Trek and Star Wars and Marvel and DC and occasionally, rarely review other things.
>>
They'd fucking BETTER do a fucking Re:view of Zardoz. I fucking LOVE Zardoz.
>>
>>25328366
I almost loved it. I don’t love it. It’s fine. Books can’t just be “fine” any more. Also i hate going to libraries. Libraries are dying. So, mike, do you recommend it?
>>
>>25328401
rich evans seems like the type to read star wars extended universe type of shit

he also mentioned in a video hating modern marvel comics
>>
>>25328484
>b-b-but they read tie-in fiction and comics probably!
I could not care less.
>>
>>25328401
Mike read a lot. Not just star trek novelization.

reminder during their review of one of The Hobbit movies, they said Lord of the Rings was impenetrable to read because it wasn't structured like a 3 act story structure like a movie.
>>
>>25328499
Got proof?
>>
>>25328366
It was OK
>>
>>25328407
Veery cool
>>
>>25328366
>I HATED IT!
>Really? I thought it was pretty good
>Well, I didn't HATE it...
>>
>>25328578
He mentioned books he read all the time. These guys went to film school. They are those artsy intellectual types. Obviously they read books, especially people their age.
>>
>>25328843
>These guys went to film school
No they fucking didn't, lmao
>>
>>25328499
He said he read Stephen Kings "It" ONCE
>>
>>25328504
I don't remember that at all.
>>
>>25328578
I said it in my post, its one of The Hobbit review videos
>>
>>25328504
Lmao if true
>>
>>25328504
He said Tolkien didn't know what he was doing(in terms of making a satisfying good story by 21st century movie standards) because Bilbo did not personally kill the dragon

"I went to Columbia College Chicago in the early 2000’s. There were some aspects of film school I enjoyed and I learned a lot from, but I found most of it to be frustrating because a lot of the theory and aesthetic stuff seemed subjective and pointless to me. Film school and art school in general have always seemed to be a contradiction. You can’t teach creativity or inspiration. You can teach the tools though, and that’s the aspect I would recommend. Learning software and techniques and so on. I don’t know, everyone is different and learns different ways so it’s a hard call on saying if I recommend it or not. I can say this though: no one has ever asked me for my degree, even when doing freelance stuff. It’s the quality of your work and your talent and who you know. Take some classes, learn some things, but the degree? Eh? Save your money…" — Mike Stoklasa
>>
I couldn't finish it. It felt shallow and I kept waiting for it to pick up. I finished about 3/4s of it and just stopped caring. I have better things to read.
>>
>>25328366
Is it worth getting a copy though?
>>
>>25328843
>>25328921
It has to just be a character. I just can't imagine being over 30 and still doing the whole
>i hate fuckin books they're all boring
>>
>>25328484
He's gotten so intolerable with age as he shows more of his personality and beliefs. Mike putting him down is charity work
>>
>>25328366
Jay - Those last three books pynchon wrote were some kind of trilogy or something like that
>>
>>25328366
it stinks

Didn't they cover it in their Sean Connery BOTW?
>>
>>25334096
No, they in fact, did not.
>>
>>25333978
Not watching that shit, fuck (You)
>>
>>25334096
they started watching it but then stopped because it was too good for BotW, they're going to do a separate Re:View for it
>>
>I hated it
>Really? I thought it was alright
>Well I didn't haaaate it
>>
>>25334218
>>25334274
oh sorry about that, I should stop drinking when I watch these
>>
>>25334274
lmao, they're aren't gonna do SHIT
>>
Name ONE other YouTube channel where the drop in quality is more noticeable than RLM. It's literally not possible.
>>
>>25334337
Sseth
>>
>>25334335
hey, if they fulfilled their promise to review Freddy Vs Jason, they'll review Zardoz before the 2030s.
>>
>>25334347
Nah.
>>
>>25334337
I can't watch new HATB eps but that's mostly because it's all AIslop and there's no way to get those boomers to not drone on about it. Kinda feel bad for them since they didn't ask for this garbage either but they choose to keep doing this and that's gonna be the whole rest of their world for a while innit.
BOTW is still good at least.
>>
>>25334337
How? When and why did this happen? I used to love them but stopped watching maybe 10 years ago, not because of the quality of their content, just bc my life got busier, so I'm genuinely surprised to hear they fell off.
>>
>>25328499
I can see Mike reading actual books. It wouldn't surprise me if Jay was fully illiterate.
>>
>>25335058
>I can see Mike reading actual books.
he watches ghost hunting reality tv kek. rich is the most likely to read, and it would only be like one book per year, by malcom gladwell or steven pinker or someone like that. and this makes him feel like some kind of enlightened philosopher.
>>
>>25335950
>rich is the most likely to read
Josh talks about books all the time. People forget about him because he's less frequent and less funny but whenever anything intellectual is discussed it is thanks to the Wiz.
>>
>>25328401
>They just bitch and whine about Star Trek and Star Wars and Marvel and DC and occasionally, rarely review other things.
You're just describing an average straight white male

you've never met a gamer or a weeb over the age of 30? i'm jealous

I have never watched Red letter media and I have never understood the appeal of the movie review industrial complex that algorithms desperately want me addicted to for some reason. Excepting some directors/actors, I simply find almost all cinema discussion to be bland and surface-level.
>>
>>25337017
josh is pretty smart but his fatness has diminished his masculinity and as such many of his opinions are exceedingly effeminate.
>>
>>25328504
They also said Sauron was really the good guy and then praised Peter Thiel
>>
>>25337044
So they've got a few video types on their channel. I think the most popular is "Half in the Bag," where they review recent releases. To me, these are only good for the skits they usually put on before and after the reviews. Their takes on recent releases are usually bland and not worth the time.
Other than that, they do a lot of reviewing old B-movies you've never heard of, so you get exposure to a lot of unusual stuff in an entertaining format. Ultimately, they're funny and creative people who put some real effort into their videos, which is all I'm looking for out of a YT channel.

>pretend to be masters of the art of film
>actually make a film
>realize it's difficult
>film is total shit
>claim that it was a totally ironic joke and all along that was the plan
What causes irony deflection?

Its an old internet thing and you had to be there
>>
>>25337843
Has a professional critic of a medium ever once made good art in said medium? That being said SC is a real pile o' shit and idk what they were thinking either.
>>
>>25339238
Memoirs of Hecate County is okay
>>
>>25337980
I was there, my friends watched this shit, I just didn't find any of it remotely interesting or entertaining
>>
>>25339288
Ok. Then you're old enough to not do this
>>
Trash just like the rest of pynchon
