Why are there so many larpers when it comes to discussing books online today? Especially with books that aren't even that hard to read like 1984 or Dune.

The internet is fake.
Who would've thought.
>>
One part what Asimov said:
>“Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.'”
and the other part is mostly that an uncomfortable number of people are straight up delusional; believing that they not only have a right to an uninformed opinion, but that they MUST have an opinion, and that theirs is unduly important; and furthermore, have seemingly bullshitted themselves into believing that their degree of certainty about things they know they don't understand, and haven't spent time to investigate, is completely warranted
such people also commonly become hostile when it is demonstrated that they don't know what they're talking about, because they are under the further delusion that their retarded 'opinions' (which either rely on factual components conclusively contradicted by evidence or have no evidence that support them whatsoever) are dyed-in-the-wool aspects of themselves as human beings, rather than simply claims about objects or ideas that are subject to scrutiny (and about which a reasonable person ought to be grateful to be corrected)

look around you anon

nobody reads in our country (presumably we share these united states)

Their reality tunnel is their complete identity. Flat earthers come to mind as an extreme example but it is a spectrum of delusion. Even i, a psued, simply must weigh in, or i dont exist....

You remind of this autistic dude on reddit, for the longest time I assumed he was a bot but it turns out he was a flesh and blood person, who, for years, whenever Asimov was mentioned on the site regardless of the subreddit, would post a small hagiography of Isaac Asimov and remind all redditors reading to refer to the late Asimov as "The Good Doctor" in bold italics. He was very insistent on the latter which his how I found he was human.

Some time in 2016, I believe, a freshly minted redditor came across some scifi subreddit I frequented, likely unaware of the general guidelines around interacting with inane comment spamming bots, posted some thread about something or other where the topic of Asimov came up. The Good Doctor-poster showed up and put up his usual screed, the nu-redditor responded, thanking him for his informative post, neglecting to refer to Asimove by the autist's preferred appellation, whereupon the Autist responded with his usual bold italicized
>The Good Doctor
Nu-redditor took offense to this and stated and that was cool but he would refer to Scifi legend however he pleased.
I don not recall the specific of the ensuing reply chain but I remember it going on for quite a while.

I learned to not judge a poster by their behavior that day. Accounts that post so consistently, quickly, and automatically might be bots, but they might also be people like you and me aso we shouldn't disregard how they might feel when we interact with them online

Fake and gay (real) kys

Why is "larp" even a substitute for "pretending"? It's like saying "goon" instead of jerking off or masturbation, I do feel like I'm going insane listening to niggerbabble every single fucking day. Even "literally", somehow, made its way into being a substitute for genuinely

Unironically chillax
>>
>>25345226
>complains about "weird larpers"
>posts some kind of incomprehensibly dumbshit twitter/tiktok take image
the fuck outta here with this trash
>>
>>25345264
Asimov is shit and, having read the authors that inspired and mentored him, I'm now far more comfortable stating that fact. He was just another of those sad resentful nitwits who needs to cling to "intellectualism" as a personality because he lacks the ability to communicate anything of genuine human experience. He was a middling writer at best.

13 year olds trying to fit in. I hate the cutesy grammar mistakes like, "How do I into X?"
>>
>>25346249
Why does it enrage you, impotent autist? Is it because you've never actually had any friends to fit in with?
>>
>>25346279
It does not enrage me, nor do your empty insults and use of ad hominem attack instead of reason.
>>
>>25346305
And yet it does. You act infuriated that people have their own language and mannerisms and shibboleths. Why attack people from this self-inflicted feeling of exclusion?
>>
>>25345226
It means you have monsters in your closet and under your bed, someone else has big brother watching them, and the op below you is a slave in a dungeon
>>
>>25346249
You know "into X" originated on this very website long long ago don't you?
>>
>>25345226
I was actually baffled, when I saw a ranking of the books that most people lie about having read and 1984 was at the top.
No clue how legit that is or where you'd even get that kind of data, but just the fact that someone would even go through the effort of lying about something like this. What's even the point?
>>
>>25345264
>Asimov
Genre fiction, not literature.
