My current bookshelf is full and I just have heaps of books stacked on the floor like a madman. Anyone here have experience with buying bookshelves in 2026? What brands should I check out?
>>25345280I've never bought them new. I've always bought them on Facebook marketplace or got them out of dumpsters
>>25345280Most bookcases now are shoddily made, almost certainly use particle board, and will need to be replaced in a couple of years.Buy an older bookcase, those things are sturdy as fuck and built well enough you could possibly even hand them down to your children. When I was looking for one I personally would look at nearby estate sales and flea markets for anything that looked nice.
>>25345280As previous anons said, I haunt FB marketplace or estate sale auctions until I come across the beautiful diamonds in the rough
>>25345280>>25345598I will add the the trick to spotting good quality furniture is to look for good joinery, no nails or godforsaken glue
>>25345280>got ikea bookshelves >shelves sagging alreadyFuck this gay world
>>25345631My Billies are going strong for 5+ years now and they're loaded to the brim.
itt peasants who have to buy furniture
Buy them used on Craigslist or FB, buy them new if you like their look or price, or build some yourself if you have the means, it really doesn't matter. I have two Ikea shelves, an old family hand-me-down, and I just got a big one that was on sale on Wayfair.
