>>25347061GURPS Hot Spots: The Silk Road
Details the fall of the Canton system; the only place the West could trade with China for many years.
>>25347315Honestly despise the Chinese because of this event. Its just anti-Scottish racism.
>>25347061It's not an entire book, it's been a while since I read it, and it is possibly not in your area of interest, but there is a section in The Notebook: A History of Thinking on Paper that details how a Florentine trader invented pretty much all the accounting fundamentals we still use today so that he could maintain branches in different cities/countries.There is another section about a man that spent a lot of his life in the Venetian fleet that gives some details on what sea trading routes were like prior to the invention of magnetic navigation, modern maps and further developments. It's all filtered through the lense of paper and it is not an awfully detailed book, but that also means it isn't awfully dry either. The author is largely just trying to convince you this stuff is cool.

>>25347061Torah, Tabakh, Kaballah. Heed the lesson from eternal merchant.
>>25347506Reading Medieval People right now, it’s public domain. The chapter on Marco Polo might be interesting to you. It makes me want to look more into Venetian and Genoan history in general in addition to looking for a copy of Polo’s book. >>25348211Also just learned about Radhanites from a different thread about slave trading (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radhanite) seems like another interesting subject.
>>25347061especially ch3, on the fur trade
>>25347061I haven't read it myself, but I was recently looking at The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet and that might be right up your alley OP.
>>25347061The Roman Empire and the Silk Routes goes very in-depth into all of the movement of people and resources going from China to Rome, and there's also a lot of political history of Rome, China and Persia to then explain changes in commodities and quantities of goods

>>25348544sounds interesting but does it focus on trade amongst the indians themselves or the trade of white people with indians?
