>God: An Anatomy is a 2021 nonfiction book by Francesca Stavrakopoulou, a Professor of Hebrew Bible and Ancient Religion at the University of Exeter, which examines the physical and anthropomorphic descriptions of God in Biblical texts and ancient sources. Stavrakopoulou argues that contrary to the modern view of God as an invisible, incorporeal being, ancient worshippers envisioned Yahweh as a physically embodied, male deity with human characteristics, appetites, and behaviors.

>>25351515Not sure exactly what this about. But I assume it is actually scholarship and not sensationalist trash - even if it is meant for popular audiences. Despite Ehrman air of redditdom, I understand that he is an actual scholar.I read pic related last year. I enjoyed it. Dense. Focuses mostly on Biblical sources and analysis. It tries to determine what the earliest forms of Christ devotion were like.I'd also recommend Father John Behr's "Road to Nicaea". Focused more on post first century developments of understanding of Christ nature etc (through Nicaea and Constantinople).
>>25352281Something about Ehrman just irks me internally which is why i refuse to read him. I think his project is mostly a bad faith reading of scripture.
