I'm not surprised considering that there's also a lot of academics that speculate that Jesus went to India to meet Buddha or at least learned Buddhism and then came back to the Canaan as a man to spread that idea which turned into Christianity.
I mean... Maybe, The Far East was actually quite far back in the day, I can't really say I know how "built up" India was at that time but China had their own basis of rationalism tied up in The Dao and Confucianism's mysticism so who really knows.
Could be the whole fish sauce thing where Rome and Vietnam roughly around the same time discovered if you take a barrel of salted anchovies and leave them out to ferment for the summer you get a tasty fish sauce.
