We were told to read some YA fantasy novel called The Alchemyst for middle school summer reading that was such a shitty and random pick that I wondered if they meant to assign this instead.
>>25358189Very likely
No it was funny tho
>>25356139The alchemist is truly the friends we made along the way.
The Alchemist is Coelho. The Alchemist is also his alchemical Magnum Opus (philosopher's stone) meaning that by realizing it Coelho attained immortality and conjured a fortune from nothing. The book's milquetoast narrative is basically Coelho explaining what he did, which from a metanarrative perspective means that by writing about how he made the philosopher's stone, he made the philosopher's stone. Coelho is one of the most successful occultists alive and calling him an occultist is almost funny since he did his craft in the most transparent, public and mundane way possible. Since /lit/ is full of brainlets I feel obliged to make it clear that nothing in my post is an endorsement of the book's quality or literary merit.
Isn't this book meant to be a piece of shit?

Shitty version of Siddhartha, read that instead.
>>25359918i liked it, but i dont understand why every /x/ schizo recommends it
>>25362015Anyone serious about spiritual philosophy would skip the novels and go read foundational texts like the Gita, the Dhammapada and the Dao de Jing.
>>25356139>just live in the dessert like a schizo bro and you will be able to create goldnice message
