Is reading trash better than not reading anything?

Is reading fanfictions better than not reading anything?

What about comics, anime?

My 70 year old mother exclusively reads young adult and teenage fantasy novels.

Is there a form of reading that is worse than reading nothing at all?

I do think bad books are worth than nothing.
Watching a documentary on Wold War II and watching "I Was Reincarnated as My Little Sister's Best Friend" are better different activities. Reading shit can fry your brain just as much anime, capeshit and Brazilian soap operas can.

Kino sovl. Books like this?

I made it up, but I'm 99% sure it exists in some form (probably a light novel.)

>My penis fell off and turned into a cute girl"
real book

No. But there are readers who are far worse than non-readers.

>One can never read too little of bad, or too much of good books: bad
books are intellectual poison; they destroy the mind.
>In order to read what is good one must make it a condition never to
read what is bad; for life is short, and both time and strength limited.

The only real difference is that you can brag about reading 500 books per week and people will think you are smart.

Not for me. I must be a different person after I’ve read something.

Trash only provides me information about what some public is up to. A kind of sociologic study.
