Narrated Anas:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "If you knew that which I know, you would laugh little and weep much."

I haven’t read him either and have been admittedly put off by the brief research I did on him, seems he put a lot of weight in Arabic/eastern thought and I’m personally more drawn to western esotericism.

Yes, because they retain fully intact initiatic esoteric lineages passed down from master to disciple in each generation while also having more consistent/fully-developed metaphysics in many cases. Western esotericism typically lacks intact initiatic lineages that you can join (most of them were made up in the 19th-20th centuries if they claim an initiatic lineage at all), and only rarely (e.g. Neoplatonism) do they reach a degree of metaphysical depth that begins to get close to the more developed eastern doctrines.

Being that as it were however, he does occasionally cites Hermetic, Kabbalistic, Christian Neoplatonic texts/authors etc even though his main focus is eastern stuff.

One of the stated goals of his project is a revival of traditional metaphysical understanding in the modern West.

Eastern, sure maybe. Muslim, lolno.

Incorrect, there are various traditional Sufi Tariqas all around the world in Africa, Middle East & Asia (and occasionally offshoots in the West) that have intact initiatic lineages going back many centuries to at least the medieval era and which have passed down methods of spiritual realization/practice down to the present day through that.

Some Sufi Tariqas are more devotional and are geared towards "popular Sufism" and group gatherings while other Tariqas are more centered around intense metaphysical study and spiritual realization under the instruction of a master, they are a spectrum and you can find both extremes and some Tariqas that have elements of both.

Dont really know if can call it Tradition if it originates after the 6th century and its entire basis is the counter-Tradition that is Islam.

>Dont really know if can call it Tradition if it originates after the 6th century
Guenon doesn't use Tradition to refer to historical circumstances, he primarily uses it to refer to the primordial metaphysical truth that is supra-formal and independent of religion. The specific year or century that a religious tradition emerges is irrelevant, what matters in his view is whether or not it has an authentic connection to this primordial truth.

>and its entire basis is the counter-Tradition that is Islam.
Islam is not a counter-Tradition in the specific sense that Guenon uses "Tradition" that I very briefly explained above, but rather Islam expresses this primordial metaphysical truth in its own particular way just as Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism and so on also do so in their own respective ways. The metaphysics and methods of spiritual realization taught in Sufism in particular align with the perspectives of more eastern traditions in countless ways.
