What are some fictional books where the main character struggles to find happiness living a simple life? Or struggling to not feel alienated by everyone around him. Happy endings only please.

Thanks for the input. Looks like it might be really good. I have heard it mentioned before.

Any particular reason?

No real reason other than I didn't want the movies to diminish my memory of the book. I just mentioned it because I can't vouch if the movies are good or not.

Your life. It’s nonfiction, and the ending probably won’t be happy, but it can be.

Not familiar with it but please let me know what you think when you reach the end

You don’t have a life? Should really pick one up man best experience you’ll find

Interesting that you specify happy endings. Feels like most books about alienation basically assume the protagonist either reintegrates into society or gets destroyed by it. Wonder why fiction rarely allows a third option.

Happiness is a human construct. A temporary state of pleasure. It is also somewhat of a social construct. According to epicurus, happiness results from the absence of pain.
