>poetry competition in my country>deadline soon>write a poem I think is pretty good>feelsgoodman>read it again today ready for submission>notice several flaws immediately>feel like it's tryhard, cringe and probably contains grammatical errorsIt's over. Go on without me.
>>25369483>"poetry competition"All you had to do was say France, no need to hide behind this cryptic nonsense.
>>25369483>flaws?
>>25369566What do you mean by "?"?I posted it in an AI tool but I feel the tool is just praising me so that I keep using it.
>>25369568>?I just don't guess what would be a flaw in poetry.
>>25369590In my case I'm trying too hard to force a specific word into a line for the purpose of maintaining a rhyme, but it feels awkward. Actually two words in successive lines, but it's difficult to make it read naturally. At the moment I'm illustrating an image in a convoluted way because of the necessity of placing the words in certain positions.
>>25369483post the poem nigga
>>25369831Sorry but I won't do that, just in case it is published somehow.
>>25369483I still lose control of myself and spazz out everytime I used spectral instead of spectrum in a 20page document I wrote years ago. The shame never stops
I got a 9.2 rating on my poem from a popular, free AI platform online bros :)
>>25369483Fate is strange. I'm going through the exact same thing. The deadline for me is July 2nd, and I'm even further behind than you are. Thankfully i'm from a fairly small and illiterate country so the competition isn't exactly stiff.
Did you win?
>>25369483You're just experiencing the normal emotional cycle of poetic composition. With each draft, you feel a flush of pride because it's better than the last draft. Then, on reflection, the flaws in you new draft emerge, and you feel dejected. The important thing is not to give up at that point. The next draft will be better, and ultimately you might arrive at something genuinely good. It's essential for a poet to become a good critic of his own work. To do this, he must learn to disregard those emotional highs and lows.
