I picked up A Voyage to Arcturus recently. Highly recommended. It gets weirder and goofier with every chapter.

Lost Horizon by John Hilton
Basically anything by Lovecraft, Harlan Ellison, PKD, Arthur C Clarke or Ramsey Campbell. ACC and PKD can be rather intense and feels-y however.
As someone who teaches medieval philosophy, this was amazing. It's also incredibly funny. Everyone knows Name of the Rose but I think this one is better in many ways.

A battle box of the period would list every last city in every permutation of possible alliances, and it goes on for centuries to the point where giant mercenary companies are being paid just to camp out and stay out of all the current wars between the other mercenaries.
