I've never seen anyone discuss any of her works. I've never seen anyone recommend any of her works. Why? Isn't she one of the greatest living writers of our time?
>>25373345I read one of her short stories in high school and thought it was pretty good
How can she be called Joyce when Joyce is the surname of James Joyce who was one of the writers of the centuries already?
>>25373345she looks like the type of person that you shatter her skull with the butt of a kar98 and then cut her head off#tradcatholic
>>25373357Hmm dont know
>>25373345>Isn't she one of the greatest living writers of our time? She's not even good, let alone one of the greatest.
>>25373345No.
>>25373345>I've never seen anyone discuss any of her worksbecause you're on /lit/>I've never seen anyone recommend any of her worksbecause you're on /lit/>Isn't she one of the greatest living writers of our timewouldn't go that far, but it's idiocy to pretend she's bad
>Her widowed paternal grandmother, Blanche Woodside (née Morningstar), lived with the family and was "very close" to Joyce. After Blanche's death, Joyce learned that Blanche's father had killed himself. She also found out that Blanche was Jewish who hid her identity in order to escape persecution and choose not to disclose this to Oates.Bingo. It's impossible for someone to look like that without a generous serving of oriental heritage.
>>25373890She's literally been mentioned regularly on /lit/ over recent weeks. Probably by OP.
I think I read once that literary critics don't want to review her works because it means they have to go and read so many of her other works to give a proper assessment and she's got what, hundreds? of novels and story collections. Maybe general readers feel something similar. She's definitely too productive for her own good, to the point where I don't think anyone on the planet knows which ones are really the great works people should read.
>>25373345I liked her story "The Bingo Master"
>>25373373Bit of a non-sequitur there given how a Kar98 is from Germany, a very secular country.
i like her twitter
i read bellefleur which is supposed to be her take on the gothic novel genre. it was enjoyable for what it is. it didn't leave me with any strong opinions though.
hundreds of storiesdozens of booksi shant read
Never read any of her works, but I'm more shocked that she's still teaching at college to this day when she's pushing 90. Shouldn't it be stressful for her?
>>25373345I bet she has the best bush
>>25374261Pretty obvious he was referring to the time when it was in use, otherwise he would have referenced a modern gun.
