>>25385231reddit spacing isn't a thing dumbass. people have always added spacing on 4chan so they don't have to read endless fucking paragraphs. look up screencaps if you don't believe me
Just ignore the troll. It doesn't matter whether you will use Latin or not. To properly learn languages—not one language in particular—Latin and/or Greek is required. Even if you have learned languages already, once you study those languages your scope of comprehension expands massively and grammar turns from a set of esoteric "rules" into a set of meaningful-by-themselves foundations which opens the doors to restructuring the brain into recognizing very distinct cultural approaches. (I'm paraphrasing another anon, I thought he put it well.)Also, here's an essay about classical education.https://archive.org/details/sayers1948losttoolslearning
>>25385132As opposed to some mythical third or greater language you'll actually need? Latin is incredibly practical if you've any interest in the English language with how much of it is Latinate. I get much more use out of Latin than I would out of something like Spanish, which I've no interest in regardless. All of this is for self-development, not practical use.Unless you read, too, for "practical" benefit.
>>25385384reddit spacing isn't a thingYes it is, retard. It's when you space between sentences. This post is an example. Cope.
When people use the word "literacy" today they're not talking about actual literacy. Actual literacy is grammar, logic and rhetoric, which is suppressed for the masses. There's a difference between "reading" and reading, between "literacy" and literacy. Actual literacy requires a classical education, which includes the Trivium. Hardly anyone is actually literate today. There were actually more literate people in the 19th century. Reading can be done the wrong way, the way they teach in school, just programming, or it can be done the right way, like in the image, which requires study of the Trivium. Reading without actual literacy is a waste of time and energy.>>>/wsg/6190203>>>/wsg/6190205
>>25385457That's secondary; English has Latin vocabulary, not Latin grammar, the Trivium is grammar, logic, rhetoric, not vocabulary, logic, rhetoric.
>>25385505Fine, but I... don't really get the point of studying the grammar of a language without just learning the language itself. It's both easier and more meaningful. A grammar in a vacuum is completely useless. Oh, you can decline a third-declension noun and generate gerundives and participles? What for?
