why does people praise this postmodern jumbo-mambo? it looks like a drug addict was trying to writte lord of the rings
>>25397425Oh no 4chan doesn't like postmodernism who could have ever predicted that like ever.
>>25397425>lord of the ringsThe Dungeon Crawler Carl of its time.
>>25397438>if you have any issues with displaying a urinal in an art gallery or a crucifixion in a jar of piss then you're not le culturedHmmmm
>>25397438there are tons of good postmodern books. Nicanor Parra is a chilean postmodern poet and he is one of the greastest poets i have read from the 20th century
>>253974384chan's destiny was to accept and carry forth postmodernism, but that has been perverted by midwit christcuckery
>>25397460It did.It uses postmodern irony to marginalize minorities while avoiding acocuntability. The meta-irony being that the racism or sexism is actually sincere underlying it.That's why 4chan doesn't "get" postmodernism and will never advance beyond it.
>>25397425The issue is not that it's post modern, but that Deleuze takes the wrong side on every single philosophical debate he gets involved. That being said, I think it's an important book, because Deleuze and Guatari are the end point of leftist philosophy.

Just read Naked Lunch. You'll save yourself time and the humour is far less ((french))
A Thousand Plateaus is written in a similar style but it's an essay collection with much more varied content and is thus much more fun to read. Try out Of the Refrain and get lost in paragraphs analyzing bird song, or the Treatise on Nomadology and read their fun analysis of metallurgy, or Becoming-Intense where they have 3 sections dedicated to sorcery.
>>25397832A Thousand Plateaus is sincerely the superior book. Anti-Oedipus is way too focused on psychoanalysis and ethics, while ATP uses the same methods to rewrite the whole history of philosophy. Genuinely one of the best books I've ever read.
>>25397455>oneshotted by modernism 100 years after the factkek
>>25397425its liberals trying to maintain liberalism while also talking about how it's evil but they aren't able to actually because they are liberals so their shit just gets all retarded, just read nietzsche and heidegger
>>25399131I honestly want to finish Anti-Oedipus but the first time I tried it I got through about half of it and stopped, but now that I've gotten through the entire text of A Thousand Plateaus maybe I'll enjoy it more now. I doubt it but I'll try. Weirdly enough I think Deleuze's book on Leibniz has been the most fun so far.
>>25397479>ironyyou guys were joking?
The Sisyphus Myth is weird because who isn't more important than their mom? Shouldn't a strong child kill the mom during childbirth and become part of the father's business? Is that what Deleuze is saying here?
>>25397438it is obvious that majority of people here doesn't read. If that were the case, they would find surprising coincidences between their chuddy world view and Guattari, Deleuze, Baudrillard, Debord and even fucking Marx
>>25397718NTA but its just money laundering. Why defend it?
>>25399300Some of those are not like the others
>>25399300>nooooo you can't read shakespeare, you have read post modern poststructuralists and other dry texts for pseudo intellectuals!!!! you must!!!!no
>>25399311>read shakespeareyou should read shakespeare, I'm not saying you shouldn't. It is just that the fuckers here read nothing at allaverage thread here: "uh what should I think about this postmodern word salad? "what about reading it and telling us if it has something valuable or is utter shit
bumping because im vaguely interested in whether i can ever view this book as legitimate enough to even consider reading one day.
>>25399300Deleuze and Guattari are simply not compatible with the right wing, as a philosophy of becoming, Nietzsche and Heraclitus included, will always clash with the right. You're right about the others, although the real standout is Lacan, who with some key adjustments fits like a globe with Heidegger.
>>25399418I'd wager they're not really compatible with anything.
>>25397438Not true. I like soviet and russian post-modernism
>>25399456They are compatible with Sartre. You could even call them the dialectical next step to Sartre, although they would obviously disagree with that. But in general they are compatible with any philosopher who believe we chan change or construct our own essence, which in one way or another includes almost every leftist philosopher under the sun.
>>25399456>I'd wager they're not really compatible with anything. If it has got a hole, I can fuck it. If it exists as a concept, I can make a hole it it. Lacan is a concept.I fucked you are Dad. I am winning, Son.
>>25397425Isn't Deleuze just a nominalist with extra steps?
I'm rereading Chapter 2 and this is probably my least favorite thing Deleuze has ever taken part in but it's probably because I've never read a single page of Freud.
>>25402948I sometimes cope that Anti Oedipus is shit because of Guattari

>>25402955Most of the ideas in these books are Guattari's. Guattari was the one who actually wrote them, while Deleuze gave feedback and edited them.
>>25404122>while Deleuze gave feedback and edited them. How true is this? I feel like Deleuze fan boys would go crazy on you for saying this
>>25404248It's how they wrote. Deleuze was very sick prone already by the time they met. Guattari went looking for Deleuze because he had a writer block, or not exactly a block, but couldn't put his thought to words, and had recently read Difference and Repetition, which made him want to break with Lacanian psychoanalysis, so he went to meet Deleuze to discuss ideas and perhaps being inspired to write. They agreed that they were going to write a book together, but the actual writing was going to be done by Guattari and then each week they would meet to discuss it and Deleuze would edit whatever Guattari wrote.

Has anyone here ever read Guattari's other texts like Three Ecologies or his essay/interview collections? His book Chaosmosis looks like what I wanted Anti-Oedipus to be but wasn't.
