Have you joined a book club? How did it go?
there is a lazy book club in my town where you go to the meetup and they just go around the table and each person has 5 minutes to talk about the book they are currently reading. Seems like a good opportunity to normalize some ****pill lit.
No, but I've been thinking I'd like to join one. Except there are seemingly quite few of them, and they generally focus on popular slop, criminals, romance, and so on. I'd rather try something IRL, but maybe searching for some online groups or discord servers or whatever is the more viable option.

I have not joined one but I did start one. We read white noise first, and are now reading east of Eden. No one has heard of /lit/ before so I’m trying to take it easy on them. What should we read next?
>>25404511yeah, this is how most of them go lol. If you just google like "Chicago book clubs" they're gonna end up like this, though I sometimes do it anyway. One I'm in now we're reading a Bell Hooks book and it's one of the worst things I've ever read but I'm not really gonna rip it apart in front of people who are enjoying it, I just won't read with them again.I have a small group of old friends from high school who don't share exact taste with me, but we're at least interested in the same books. If I catch that one of them started reading something on storygraph or goodreads that I'm interested in I'll try to hop on it with them. I find that leads to way better discussion than random book clubs
