I don’t get it
>>25411844the phenomenology part? the spirit part? or the of part?it's something of a triparte structure, which can be difficult to grasp at first.
So like think of the universe as this one thing called spirit. Like some universal grand abstract truth we're all chasing and its the thing driving history, some ghost thats watching us. It goes through phases of metamorphosis, from evolving consciousness, ideas realizing themselves. It tries one idea, realizes that idea totally sucks or contradicts itself, and then it 'sublates' it which means it takes the good parts, tosses the garbage in the trash, and tries to figure out what works as it goes but parts of that previous whole are all still there. The most famous dialectic is the master-slave dialectic, people trying to be "seen" by the other, recognition, the master thinks he's above the slave but the slave ironically is what he needs to feel superior and feed his sense of importance, and the slave doing the work for the master is where he gets the fruits to feel this sense of superiority. Marx basically took the dialectic idea and applied class as the driver of history and spirit - dialectical materialism. Hegel thought spirit was the driver of the dialectic. The contradictions of capitalism get sublated. Master/Slave is the dialectic of bourgeosie/proletariat. That's what Marx did. Then with fascism Gentile said that Hegel's spirit was too abstract, and that instead of ideas the driver of history was action, what was happening right here in front of you right now, and the driver of history was struggle, recognition between states, individuals surrendering to collective for greater strength and ability to drive their will to power. This was Mussolini's philosophical godfather. Gentile saw actions of states as the driver of what is real. The difference is for Marx and Hegel, the eventual achievement of the absolute was seen as emancipatory, while for fascism it was an act of absorption into the state for the sake of it.

>Hegel: I want you to read my book. It's about the development of consciousness or "Spirit," but it's a presuppositionless account that stands up to the new transcendental turn in philosophy inaugurated by Kant, written so that it is not "dogmatic" in Kant's sense, but rather so that the individual consciousness or "Spirit" reading the book can come to recognize itself in the unfolding development of Spirit as a wholeWow, that sounds great Hegel, tell me more>Hegel: We will start with the most primitive and irrefutable possible phenomenal datum of Spirit, and then progress "dialectically" through ineluctable steps showing that a higher conceptual vantage point on the primitive data is necessary, a vantage point which is then also recognized by the reader as irrefutable, and as primitive relative to something conceptually higher, once it is properly understood. Again, the process ultimately culminates in Spirit's recognition that it is the very thing whose unfolding it has witnessed, and then ouroboros-like the "first datum becomes the last thing" from the perspective of finished contemporary Spirit, and the "last datum becomes the first thing" from the perspective of "bare" Spirit, as Aristotle said about first and last thingsHoly shit that sounds pretty good, so it's like a dynamic, experiential version of Kant's transcendental deductions, right? If you pull this off Hegel, then this gets around both Kant's problem of "here are the transcendental categories of all possible minds, static for all time, oh by the way they correspond to 1760s philosophy textbooks" AND the Reinhold/Fichte problem of doing Leibnizian-Wolffian deductions about some World-Spirit as if it's an external entity. I can't take it anymore Hegel, show me the goods>Hegel: Alright. Here you go, a copy of my book. Enjoy>Page 37: The gooborp moxes the foobo and the foobo INELUCTABLY must foob so therefore the foobo MUST doowop the gooborp in the VERY MOXING of the foobo, ARE YOU PAYING ATTENTION?? PAY ATTENTION, THIS IS THE GOOD STUFF, IF YOU MISS THIS DIALECTICAL PIVOT POINT YOU WON'T GET ANYTHING ELSE!!>Page 38: Now OBVIOUSLY the googog is the smeedle of the bulbhibah

Why should I read philosophy when philosophers don't get other philosophers and grossly misread them? What can I hope to get from it then.

>>25412709the critique of pure reason perfectly builds upon everything there was before... like science doesbut there are some so called "philosophers" that are pseuds in reality... like Hegel for example...
>>25412101gegcan anons that have actually read PoS shed some light on what makes it so unreadable? is it because you need to already have a decent understanding of the technical concepts being employed, and that requires a lot previous exposure, or is it genuinely badly written?
