I believe it's crippling my output. I have so many swirling ideas in the tapestry of my mind, but they come out all gargled and disappointing. What can I do?
>>25413206You are shit. Simple as
>>25413206you have anxiety inhibiting you, learn to accept and embrace that you’ll throw away most of your material as you find your voice. if there’s a good kernel of an idea you’ll find a way to repurpose itfor now you just have to learn to write and write. Depends on what you’re trying to write of course though
>>25413206If you can't write with the confidence that it is good then you probably aren't a good enough writer
recently i came to read some maxims created by jack Kerouac, to paraphrase it comes down "to first thought best thought", and, "dont think of words, think of a movie in your mind and then describe it on paper".Pick a topic, like love, or death, or grief, then free write about it, just write what comes to mind, while at the same time picturing it in your head, picture your own death, picture falling in love. then writethese techniques allow a flow of words like jazz, you can edit later if you want
>>25413206find small ways to make them less disappointing idk. you can't please everyone, especially not even the psycho looking bitch in that pic
best advice is to read more
Study the actual craft of writing good sentences. Read poetry and speeches. Read Nabokov, amd Flaubert if you can read French. A great many people mistakenly believe that creativity is enough on its own, and this reveals itself in sentences that are utterly devoid of rhythm and musicality. Some have the self awareness to recognise this, and it stunts their output; others do not, and inflict themselves and their slop wantonly upon the world. Thanks for not being in the latter group.
