Anyone read this? What’d you guys think of it?

We don't do that here.

It's the same as his other books. Almost everything he's written is just Less than Zero. I'd you really enjoy his other stuff you'll probably like it but there's basically nothing new or interesting about it.

The Shards is a lot more entertaining than LTZ was. He's gotten much better at writing, The Shards is the kind of book you sink into and feel like you inhabit the world he's describing.
Not as good as American Psycho though, which felt like it had more to say.

Does the “numb” feeling he projects come from him being a closeted gay?

Did American Psycho have more to say, or was it the exact same thing said, just different with a different dressing?

Basically agree with this. It's like a much more interesting and better written LTZ. This and American psycho are the only books of his I'd say I personally sincerely enjoyed. Thematically, I'd say he still suffers from basically just saying the same thing over and over.

The book is good. Ryan Murphy is making an TV adaptation, and when the trailer came out, blacks and browns were seething because the show has an "all-white" cast. The show isn't even out and already winning.

More to say. If you think American Psycho and The Shards are saying the same thing, I don't know what to tell you. They share some surface level details like music and the 80s, I guess.
