Which nation has produced the greatest philosophers?
In my opinion, the first place goes to Britain.
The second and third places are some combination of Germany and France.
Fourth place is Greece.
Fifth is probably America.

britain? britain??? are you fucking pulling my leg mate???

He is right. When you get deep into philosophy you quickly realize that there seem two "eras", the Aristotle era and the Kant era. But this is the surface level history, because when you get even deeper you realize that Thomas Hobbes (PBUH) fully anticipated even the deepest insights of Kant, that Hume and Berkeley, who inspired Kant, are discount Lockeans, who is himself a discount Hobbesian. Then you realize that not Aristotle and Kant, but Aristotle and Thomas Hobbes are the two inflection points.
As for the other German "Philosophers" Fichte, Schopenhauer, Hegel, Nietzsche, Husserl, Heidegger, and even Adorno, none of them actually manage to go beyond Kant. At their best they merely distill Kant's insights, at worst they completely misunderstand Kant and revert to a more convoluted form of pre-Kantianism.
By the way, there are some people who think Wittgenstein is the actual "inflection point", but let's not even get into that.

hol up? hobbes? hobbes? the guy didn't even know geometry. plato would not have even let him in the academy.

Yes...Bacon, Hobbes, Locke, Berkeley, Hume, Priestely, Bentham, Mills, Sidgwick, Russell, Moore etc.

Britain produced a lot of shoddy music prior to the British invasion but they produced some fine thinkers.

Ass backwards list.
It goes Greece, Germany, Britain, and then France. The reason France is so far down is because they've been one of the biggest negative influences in the past century. The damage Sartre, Camus, and Foucault have done to humanity is immeasurable.
>America producing philosophers

NTA, and Irish, but this is completely correct. Only one-nation tories pretend otherwise. There is Scottish, Irish, Welsh and English nationalism, and Ulster Unionism is its own colour of nationalism, but there is no British nationalism. Britain is a multinational state.

The media certainly likes to pretend otherwise.

if there is a difference, it's irrelevant, because Britain is neither. Time to pick up a geography book

>third place Britain (Hume, Locke, Hobbes)
?
Hume was disproven by Thomas Reid who is essentially the only philosopher, apart from his followers, who admits we actually can perceive the world. All other philosophers tell us that we cannot understand the world and it is essentially and illusion.

British nationalism is real and today it is represented by neoliberal globohomo multicultural muttism.
Which is essentially what it was about 300 years ago too, only the ideological glue of such a project was protestantism and the unifying evil was Catholicism. It's not a coincidence that the English completely forgot any of this was once really important to being British once WW2 happened and provided a new foundational myth for this work of liberal nationbuilding.
It's become unfashionable to call it nationalism, but what we see today, where politicians in Britain and Ireland alike work tirelessly to mass import browns and mutt them together into into a beige race of electric cyclists that imitate everything to come from the slums of London is the true modern continuation of British nationbuilding.

Foucault is actually extremely based and his philosophy is obscenely chudded but everyone seems to just collectively agree to notice this because he’s a gay pedo and that’s bad, or good, depending on what side you’re standing on.
He’s essentially the anti-Dworkin

I thought this was a 18+ website.

I don't care about him being a degenerate. His philosophy is just fundamentally wrong and it being used to justify his debauchery is a side note.
>>
>>25419570
interesting... have to look that up
>>
>>25416707
If we're talking about the working class then yes 100% that is true but if we are talking about the people who actually wrote philosophy historically then lets be real, they are all related. Perhaps moreso than a southern Englishman and a northern Englishman

This anon is correct. Heidegger is just Kant minus immortality. Husserl is case by case Kant. Adorno is a Marxist Kant. Nietzsche and Schoppie are just blackpilled Kant, Kant minus freedom. Fichte is literally just Kant. Schelling and Hegel are pre-Kantians inspired by Kant. I’m not even trolling, Kant is the OG of continental philosophy and it’s hard to escape him because he was so on point.

Greeks > Latins > Islamics > Jews > modernite sophistry

That's the definitive list for the Western tradition.

Most of the best "Greeks" are from modern Egypt, Turkey, and the Levant though.
