I read this last year and it was brutal. It made me rethink my whole life. By the end of the year I had already planned everything I need to do to turn things around.
It's August already and I have done absolutely nothing.

Then start doing something nibba stop wasting your time. Dear god do something easy like enrolling in a self study course or something.

that's because your emotions are biochemical and your proclivities towards them are genetic
people desperately ask themselves if they can change their entire lives but the answer is no

You have Oblomovitis. Also
>that part where Zakhar threatens the other pesants with his master
Brought me to tears. Tolstoy has a point when he venerates the simple life of the peasants. What a beautiful, good world view.

Jew demoralizer detected. However, you're not entirely wrong. I have seen little evidence that real change is possible. I'm talking about things like losing a lot of weight, but things like genuinely overcoming deep demons. Doesn't seem like many people are capable of that.

*not* talking about things like losing weight

Start with one decision that can't be reversed that easily, like trashing your pc.

Imagine you ideal self, the one that lives the life you want to live, according to the ideals and values that occupy your mind. Then, as you go through the day ask yourself
>What would my ideal self do?
or
>Would my ideal self do this?
Example. Would my ideal self goon for an hour or spend the entire day shitposting on the chan? No. My ideal self would instead spend 2 hours writing. Then take a break. Then on to the next thing.

You should also imagine the great and intense pain and regret you'll eventually experience if you don't make a great effort to achieve the life you want. In 6 months all the wasted time and progress that wasn't made will hurt. In a year it will hurt more. In 10, 15 years, when you're 45, it'll hurt so bad it might kill you.
The pain you already feel is nothing compare to what you'll experience if no action is taken.

If you make it to old age, if you end up as a 90 year old man on your deathbed, will you think
>I'm glad I spent all that time delaying the things I wanted to do and engaging in pointless things
Probably not.

Remember that you are mortal, your existence is finite. You are temporary. If you don't live intensely now, f you don't make serious chances, if you don't face life with a sense of existential seriousness, you'll end up starved of a life that could've been but never was.
You should not seek to avoid death, to want to live forever. Instead, when death comes, you should seek to present it with a full life. A life well lived. A life lived with great intentionality. Do not present to Death an empty life, a deformed little life that withered away.

It is not easy. On the contrary, it will be the hardest thing you'll ever attempt, but also the most important. Good luck.

I prescribe you notes from underground
If that doesnt get you off your ass then nothing will

>By the end of the year I had already planned everything I need to do to turn things around
Planning and telling people about your goals gives you a dopamine boost and tricks you into thinking you've done anything at all, which lowers your actual drive to work. You fucked up, OP.

This whole framework though just exposes that life is bullshit. Did Chad have to try heroically hard to be Chad? No.
If you have to come up with all these copes about le monumental effort, then you were never going to make it anyway. Generally speaking. I'm sure there are successful outliers.
>>
>>25422981
This whole defeatist attitude is the mole trying to convince itself to stay underground; to not see the sunlight; to not even attempt to change and to think itself as virtuous for staying the same.
We are not Chad, we are troubled men. Our lives require effort, pain and dedication to provide happiness.
But for us, that happiness will be a thousand times more fulfilling than Chad's. Because it will be earned, not given on a silver platter.
>>
>>25422990
I suppose.
>>
>>25422993
Like i said, we're troubled men. We're neither the first nor the last. Troubled men like us lived in the past, had successful careers, married and had children. Sure, it might be harder than in past eras, but the most important thing is to TRY. TRY and TRY and TRY until the world gives up at rejecting your wishes.
Dont end up like the Potential Man.

the fact you use the term "Chad" and view life through the lens of these individuals that fit into the category of "Chad" and those who don't already tells me your spirit has already been deformed by the bad parts of the internet

A few weeks ago an internet personality you and many others would categorize as a "Chad" died at 32 years old. Being a "Chad" didn't bring him any true long term fulfilment. Didn't bring him any purpose. Didn't bring him any sense of a life worth living despite the hardship.
He had a psychotic breakdown and died alone in a lake in Thailand.

I recommended purging your system of these distorted views of life that get promoted like hell over the internet.
>>
>>25423017
I meant Chad in the traditional "popular in school and attractive" sense, not the internet memelords who looksmaxxxxx and suck off Andrew Tate.
>>
>>25422905
You're right, and I've been thinking about most of the things you said lately. I don't think I can handle my current situation (that will most likely get worse if I don't anything) in 5-10 years.
The thing is that while I'm capable of discipline and hard work, I cannot forze passion or will. The times I've gone out of my comfort zone and made something worthy I was pushed by external urgency.

>>25422958
Oblomov was worse for me. I read Notes from the underground like a decade ago, read it again last year. I'm not as bitter as the protagonist and I even found some chapters comedic.

>>25422965
I didn't tell anyone. I never do anything to show off to be honest.
