Yea, but 2034 was surprisingly good

I was thinking of reading it and then I looked online to see if people think Metro 2033 is good and one response was "this is basically just Roadside Picnic but worse" so I read Roadside Picnic instead. It was fun but also boring sometimes.
I lost the motivation to start with 2033.

I just finished picnic 1h ago. And I agree. More boring than fun too, the tone of the book is off I find too.
film adaptation is much better

Just dont read the french books...

I love Metro 2033 and 2035 was kino despite what everyone says
>>
Been interested in reading it since I played all three games recently. I just want living in the Metro fleshed out more.

I liked the mundanity of it. Sure its just a newer take on Roadside. But I liked that it was very much a MC with no agency, going from situation to situation.

It was weird to play the game multiple times first then read the book as they take like 25% from it when adapting it.

It's Russian. What did you expect?

Iirc it's wasn't really a "book" but a collaborative project between a bunch of Russians on a web forum. It's why the narrative is so meandering; plot threads and elements are introduced, but never explained and forgotten about a few chapters later depending on the mood of the group. It's impressive that instead of being a total mess the inclusion of all of these vague plot elements just adds to the scale and mystery of the metro, makes it worth reading just for that feeling alone. I think the english translation was also funded by donations.

If you think so, or not, is irrelevant. However, if i like it, it's the expression of the most fine art, pure excellence, and the highest and best always forever. As simple as that.

2035 is easily the best what the fuck are you talking about

I was gonna read it, i did my standart screening on the author, i found out he was israeli and immediatly blacklisted from my reading list, to answer your question, yes it is subversive diarrhea
