Im not sure if asking for recommendations is allowed on here so forgive me if this is a faux pas.I used to be into so called "extereme" horror but its so fucking boring. You can only read about coprophagia/necrophilia/cannibalism/etc so many times before the shock wears off. Not to mention these books are often very poorly written. I was hoping maybe /lit/ could recommend some good books that make you feel uneasy or creeped out. Im open to other genres besides horror.Thank you in advance.

Youd think they wouldnt be fans of a genre where 90% of the stories involve rape to some extent.
>>25423595You become desensitised to the gore after awhile, Splatterpunk comes down to style over substance. I think extreme gore as a medium to convey taboo subjects or ideas is great…..but very few actually do this.

Only good splatterpunk writer is Jack Ketchum. He started off edgy but his later books still had sp elements but he felt matured. Other writers use it for lame, teen edgy wish fulfillment.

b.r yaeger is a good shout for this kind of thing. It's no doubt edgy but nuanced and empathetic. some of the scariest stuff I've read in a while
