What’s the point of coming here? No one reads and what little effort you put in, some troll is going to just mess with you. It’s better off reading a book and not coming here at all.
>>
>>25424029
true. that goes for every "creative" board. You are better off finding forums closest to your genre
>>
>>25424029
For my own benefit to concretise my thoughts. The response or lack thereof is of no concern to me. If someone finds something I say insightful then that's also a plus.

To effortpost in the face of adversity is to advance the flag of order in the eternal war against the forces of entropy.
>>
>>25424045
>lack thereof
This is far more disheartening than dealing with a troll. The quality of trolls here is abysmally low but it's acknowledgement of the post existing if nothing else. On the rare occasion you get a troll who's not doing the bare minimum it's at least a mental exercise that tests different angles of thinking.
>>
The terrible paradox of hobby boards is that the people you'd want to discuss the hobby with are out doing the hobby, not posting about it on 4chan
>>
What’s with this gaslighting lately about /lit/ not reading? Is it just 1 troll? Did a pajeet get his feelings hurt or something?
>>
>>25424074
>just 1
If only.
>>
>>25424074
not reading is one thing. not reading anything good is the problem
>>
>>25424029
It is somehow still the best place to read and discuss literature. I need some source to get actual recommendations from. I don't know any person that reads the same type of books I read IRL. Reddit is mostly utter trash. Other websites are either incredibly slow and/or the literature discussed there is shit.
I probably have bought 60 % of my books based on recommendations of this board. That being said, I probably spent more time reading the /lit/-archive than actually reading the board in the last weeks. There were some nice anons in the past, like the Wagnerfag and the Guenonfag. My reading journey is sadly based on 4chan and I can't get recommendations from anywhere else now. I have nowhere else to go. If you are able to go, go.

factual. just ignore the ragebait shit or the genreshit or the ideologicalshit and any of the many other types of shit and it's fine. learn to scroll past shit u don't like.

sadly, over the many years of reading published and anons works I have only grown less interested in any other type of writing besides the type I am writing. Its weird but the more I learn the more I gravitate solely to other works in my genre. I used to have no problem clicking links and shit but now I can't do it anymore. Doesn't help that most of it is smut. Also nobody writes in my genre. The further I write into my current project the more alienated I feel.

And yet here you are
>>
>>25424074
every retard on every board says "omg haha /board/ doesn't do board it's all /po/ haha" like the useless subhuman trash they are
>>
>>25424029
I visit /lit/ only a few times a year. I don't think being a regular here really works except if reading is a daily thing for you and likeyour main passion or whatever!
>>25424044
I cook mostly every day and I post on /ck/ fairly regularly.
>>25424073
That's not true at all. You're just really negative because you're a bookish person.

Is the passive act of reading more creative than the active act of creating a dish?
>>
>>25424343
you are arguing the creative merit of something over whether or not you are moving around?
>>
>>25424355
No that is not what I am arguing, I am not arguing anything. I am stating that the passive act of reading is less creative than the active act of creating a dish.
>>
>>25424370
ok. you clearly dont know what an argument is. nor do you know what creativity is. Or you are being disingenuous. Either way do us all a favor and brick your computer

>No are emoticons also American? is ^^ and :p American?
Yes and yes. Europoors didn't invent them which you would know if you weren't a jeet.
>>
>>25424029
Yep. All the effortposters left. Each year this board gets worse.
A thread about VNs is far more popular these days.
>>
>>25424689
i only care about effortreaders not effortposters, most "effortposts" were below ai slop in quality, like wow this guy typed up 500 words about a topic he must know something about it, wrong.
>>
>>25424678
Have you ever done an IQ test guy? Emoticons are OBVIOUSLY a Japanese invention from like the early/mid 90's or something.
>>
>>25424029
I literally only come here and have always just come here to seek some inspiration for what book to read next.
>>
>>25424695
Hear, hear.
>>
>>25424716
Emoticons date back to when the internet was primarily for universities in America in the early 80's. Don't bother taking an IQ test. We can tell yours is double digits.
>>
>>25424808
Oh look someone read the wikipedia article on emoticons lololol whatever you say bro I have been on the internet for a quarter century and I can tell you back in the day when the average IQ for internet users was a fair bit higher people could tell the word emoticon comes from Japanese for obvious etymological reasons x)
>80's internet
BBS is not internet, internet = world wide web, obviously.
>>
>>25424837
Double digit was clearly being too generous. Pretending to be that old while typing like a middle school girl is a pretty weak larp.
>>
>retards fighting over off topic shit
I think OP might be onto something.

It’s a shithole but it’s the best place to discuss books and reading online and for most people there is next to nowhere to discuss these things in real life because people are scared to death of interaction or the vulnerability that comes with it and sharing thoughts and ideas.
>>
>>25424029
If a troll can mess with you, you are insecure. It’s time to mature, anon.

I am permanently banned from Reddit because I responded to a comment on an OP with this pic and the question “classic lit hot takes?” by saying that the commenter should be killed for disliking Wuthering Heights. I appealed the ban based on the fact that my response was a jest in line with the OP pic but the admins would not admit the nuance and reiterated the party line of “Reddit is not a place for threats of violence.” /lit/ is manifestly better because there’s much less moderation.
