I shipped $2000 worth of books from my parents' house to my apartment but they got lost in transit.
>>
We can’t have nice things. When will you learn?
>>
>>25424268
Why didn't you transport them yourself?

Should've insured the shipment or something. Who did you pay for shipping? DHL?

thank you

UPS

How the fuck do 2000dollarinhos of books get "lost" in transit. That means stolen doesn't it.
>>
>>25424403
it means it was too heavy and the box busted open somewhere and the wagies didn't feel like dealing with it so they threw it all out and pretended it was lost.

>I move to germany
>leave most of my childhood stuff with my dad
>my dad moves to florida
>first night there, all his shit gets stolen
>all my childhood things, gone

He died a couple years ago. I had a suitcase from him, and when I moved, I just had everything in the basement thrown out. The suitcase was in there. Sometimes I lay awake at night and regret it. It was just a suitcase, but I moved to germany with it, and I always thought of it as "dad's suitcase". I don't know what I was thinking.

We all lose things, OP. C'est la vie.

Nobody would steal books. Books are too niche.
>>
>>25424419
who would steal your plushie
>>
>>25424429
Dad packed everything into his work trailer. It was just a bunch of boxes, they just stole everything. I doubt they gave a shit about my plushies. Probably threw them away or gave them to their little cousins or something.
>>

>little cousins or something.
now that's just Hispanophobia, we don't know about their skin color!!!!! kek. tough luck. why would he move to Florida of all places though
>>
>>25424477
Everyone has little cousins, my guy.
Anyway, he was a farrier, and he always had some issues finding a big enough customer base. He was really good, but a good farrier means a horse only gets looked at once every couple months. We moved pretty often.

>Nobody would steal books. Books are too niche.
I had a package of a few new books “disappear” when the books were supposedly delivered.
I was waiting for the package, but nobody rand or knocked, and then I got the notice of delivery, but no package could be found.
I don’t live in an urban area with a yard, or anywhere else a package could have been “misplaced” so either someone stole the package from my stoop, or whatever delivery company it was didn’t deliver the package to my address, or the package was stolen in transit.
The Seller sent replacements promptly, do there was no great loss to me, but books do get pilfered.
>>
>>25424423
the only realistic scenario for them to be stolen would be if they looked antique, and even then not many people who would recognize that.

ordinary books are very very hard to flip. majority of flippers you see at the thrift store who buy ordinary books sell them wholesale to companies with massive warehouses who can afford to sit on them for months and years. the guys who buy the antique books and finely printed art books usually can sell them on their own.
>>
>>25424937
They were in a box. I probably didn't tape them well enough and >>25424411 was right. The box probably weighted like 40 pounds and the package handlers broke it while throwing it onto a conveyor belt.
>>
>>25424911
Most books have almost no resale value, and anyone trying to make money off of books needs to know exactly what they're doing. They'd need extensive knowledge and the contacts to make the effort worth it. There's a reason people usually steal jewellery and electronics.

If you stopped ten random people on the street, I'll bet not one of them could name a book worth more 50$ off the top of their head.

You either got scammed, or the driver fucked up and was covering his ass. If your package got stolen, I doubt the person knew they were books.
>>
>>25424947
What books did you have? $2000 for 40 pounds seems disproportionate
>>
>>25425043
They were all history books and classics.
>>
>>25424268
You could've downloaded all of those books for free and saved yourself from losing all that money
