>>25424921>>25424924I think you guys misread the task, but that’s totally fine. It happens to everyone at some point.
>>25424932there are no metaphysics worth a shit after Kant mogged all of them with critique, and certainly not after 1990

>>25424917Metametaphysics (2009) is where to start. Then work backwards and forwards.Higher-Order Metaphysics (2024) is illustrative of where stuff has gotten as of late. For continental post-1990, go Being and Event, then After Finitude, The Quadruple Object, Nihil Unbound, etc. Some Grant, some Gabriel. Lorenz Puntel, Sebastian Rodl eventually. Throw Nick Land somewhere in there.
>>25424967Isn't that basically what picrel is?
>>25424982I was going to explicitly recommend Sider's book but I figured people who read the Metametaphysics books will be able to figure that they should read it eventually. It's a good bridge between that and the HOM stuff though. Dorr actually is a good bridge between Sider and the HOM turn. Everybody should read Kit Fine too but neither he nor Dorr have a magnum opus monograph to point to like with Sider.

>>25425624well what do you know
>>25425490There's no continental metaphysics otherwise post-1990. It's either Deleuze and post-Deleuze or German Idealism revived or mixing with analytics. French philosophy in the 1940s drew from Hegel, Husserl, and Heidegger (three Germans). Then by 1960 it drew from Marx, Nietzsche, and Freud (three other Germans). There is no other philosophy; it's Germans all the way down. Even the analytics start with Germans (Frege, Wittgenstein, Carnap). And it all goes back to the German Kant, and the German Leibniz before him. Even being good at anti-metaphysics requires you to be inspired by some German. The English descend from Germanic invaders and the French descend from Germanid invaders. The spirit of the post-Roman West is German, and it's only German to want to do anything pre-Roman either so that doesn't fix anything. Want to do Indian philosophy? That's Indo-Aryan, so proto-Germans. Maybe you want Chinese but even they and the Japanese hybridized their work with German philosophy by the time of the 1930s and 1940s.
