no it's not. don't spread false hope. don't accept substitutes simply because we forgot what the real thing looks like.

literature won't discover new powers and new freedom until a new force emerges in society, a force that can bust out of the the planetary economy that's subsumed history and plunged us into a world more frozen and automatic than any modernist could imagine. if literature doesn't correspond to real historical possibility then it's words without substance, evoking nothing, promising nothing, without allies and without resources.

I like him because he goes on tangents about personal events and people in his life that would ordinarily be socially inappropriate to share

Ian is the definition of Manchild-Core. He's /lit/ personified (loves mccarthy, wolfe, "literary" genre slop, reads a few classics now and then every once in a while).
This is the poetry of the man trying to bring us a "literary renaissance."

>high noon
>a stack of dead coyotes

>before I turned
>my phone back on
>and took you to where
>I buried hundreds of crystals

>wildly the coyotes
>ran away from
>the air behind my body

>vegas

>to the north
>we glowed
>staring at green lights
>across the valley
>I can hear suzukis racing
>peacocks hidden
>above, in the dark branches
This is what a life of reading genre slop, browsing /lit/ and smoking weed gets you. Poetry on the level of rupi kaur.

I wrote poetry as a child, got it published, and only then did I realize I was embarrassingly bad at poetry.
Haven't written a line of it since.

You haven't grown up yet if you're seething about banal things other people do.
