it's basically trolling someone if you tell them to read 2500 year old philosophy and spend years on it (Plato, Aristotle, etc.) before doing anything else instead of picking up a decent history of philosophy, maybe a secondary for the sake of context which you might need for Kant, Hegel or someone elsebasically, you are forced to suffer through primitive philosophy (like the Presocratics) and almost, but not yet really scientific accounts of the mind and biology (Aristotle). most of it is pointless to learn and what you might need is just context, some kind of general understanding of what they wrote about when other authors refer to themunless you really really like reading old, outdated science and philosophy, mixed in with skepticism, it's best to just skip to the authors you want to read or something
