I highlighted the more interesting tidbits in my ebooks when I find them but writing in an actual physical book seems cringe as fuck to me.

I guess I can see annotating being useful for that. They approach literature like a project, I approach it more like a steady diet. I don't see how annotating would be useful to me.

i like to underline a passage i feel was well written and when i look up a word, i write the definition in the margins. when i started reading dostoyevsky, i thought it would help to underline every name in a different color so i could keep everyone straight. i didn't though.
