Both Camus' The Stranger and Brandon Sanderson's The Final Empire (or any other of his works for that matter) are written in a white style prose, i.e. impersonal, expository, lucid and flat.Excluding the content, what makes The Stranger a good work but The Final Empire bland at best, mediocre at worst?

The Stranger always makes sense regardless of thing and the other one is some Stranger in a Strange Land obscurantism
>>25429518Camus skillfully writes as if he was someone who is detached from life. The white style prose reflects Meursault's view of the world, silly with funny moments now and then. You aren't just reading Camus narrating a story from pov of Meursalt, you are reading Meursalt narrating a story.The problem with Sanderson doesn't lie entirely in the style. The problem with Sanderson is that he writes as if he was narrating the wikipedia page of a Troika game. The style hurts it because narrators in CRPGs or even regular RPG campaigns have their own personality. When you read Tolkien he creates the illusion that he's an whimsical old man telling you his cool adventures and about his research, when you read Sanderson you are reading a bored video game promoter telling you about their company upcoming game.
