>Beauty is truth, truth beauty,>that is all Ye know on earth, and all ye need to knowWhat does this mean exactly?
>>25453156Nothing. It's just meaningless crap.
>>25453156Male beauty is the greatest thing on Earth.
>>25453156>>25453235zesty
>>25453156ignorance is bliss
>>25453156Beauty on its own without an observer loving it and adoring it is kinda pointless isn’t it? So I think love is all and all is love. For love is the desire for the Other to be. What else is creation than the desire for the Other to be?
I cannot believe that there are people on this board who don’t at least have a rudimentary grasp of Platonism. You are not literate.
Note that the Greek kosmos means both order and beautythe fundamental structure of this world is a beautiful truth, ie it is Divineto seek beauty is to discover truth, the unity of these has been associated with God in all of human history and in all civilizations the loss of these associations, once common, is how you know we are living in the dark ages
>>25453299luv me plates, me
>>25453299Who cares? Platonism is fake and dumb.
>>25453156What I've always wondered about this quote/line is that it's got two of the Transcendentals, but not three. It's got Beauty and Truth, but Keats left out Goodness, and I wonder why.
>>25454049Not sure about Keats, but the three transcendantals (+being) were completely made up by Scholastic philosophy and have very little to do with Plato. The Good is above both truth and beauty because it creates them (see Republic VI obviously). And even about beauty there is a bit of ambiguity with Plotinus, where it sometimes comes up as the sign that something comes from the Good, so that it doesn't even match truth, which rather matches being. Basically read the neoplatonists to find this out.
>>25453156give us the rest of it
>>25453299lol its just shadow cave bro. easy. oh and like dodecahedrons.
>>25453156>if poetry comes not as naturally as the leaves to a tree, it had better not come at allHumans are natural creatures, we are wired to the natural world. Our souls find beauty in the world and from that beauty we discover truth. It's not complex at all. You just need to keep your eye out for what is beautiful. >Sunsets>Flowers >Mountains >Children playing>Mother's holding their babies>Old men drinking teaIn beauty you'll find universal truth of human nature. That is why Romantic poets focus so much on Nature because it reveals things about ourselves. Read Lyrical Ballads for the best example of this
>>25454049Because the romantics were rampant libertines who preferred to pretend that all goodness was contained within beauty.
"good" is what the human animal finds profitable to self or collective"beauty" is what the human animal finds attractive "truth" is that which is convenient and plausible
>>25453156It means shut the fuck up, now go make love to some pretty girl like you're meant to.
Poetry in general is repulsive. Romantic poetry twice so.
>>25453156Next time you observe something beautiful, try to explain why it is beautiful. After a few tries you'll be peddling the same argument.
>>25457478This post is so genuinely soulless and inhuman that it must be a CIA agent looking to demoralize people
>>25455702>>25455702>"good" is what the human animal finds profitable to self or collectivenot necessarily there are perversions of the word "good" that are neither>"beauty" is what the human animal finds attractiveMany people see beauty in the stars or the moon. I think it has more to do with strength. >"truth" is that which is convenient and plausibleThere are genuine people, too. And you're only able to suspend your disbelief so much.
