>feminazis
are we deadass

Most poetry today is entrepreneurship. Social media is king.
>>
at this point you're lucky if you find someone who remembers poetry exists outside of prose poetry

prose poetry has always been a much rarer and more unpopular kind of poetry than verse, especially in the anglosphere. I suppose you're thinking of prosaic writing line-broken at random, but really that's the opposite of prose poetry, for they cannot do without the line break, the visual indicator that screams Look, I am verse, I am poetry! They would never dare retire their writing into a selfeffacing paragraph.

that's a fair critique, i was struggling to remember the correct terminology. it's been a few years since i last read any poetry in earnest anyway. maybe "lyric essay" would have been more appropriate? i was thinking along the lines of anne carson's "the glass essay" but far worse, as the nude portion of that is actually interesting. still, poor imitations of carson and oliver are preferable to rupi kaur, i guess, herself an imitation of poets like warsan shire. or god forbid the era of shit like "what terror looks like", "fish in exile", and "postcolonial love poem" again.

Oh sure, but I don't think most people would know about something like Carson either, and it would just be the instapoetry tier stuff instead.

pretty sure most people do not know modern poetry period. carson, oliver, and silken have been memed to death online.

Thomas Kling was pretty good desu.

Most of the best poetry isn't published as poetry now that we have widespread audio recording, it's published as songs. There's a reason Dylan won that Nobel.

honestly i really enjoyed violet bent backwards over the grass by lana del rey for this reason. i think audiobooks (preferably performed by the author) are far superior for poetry for this reason, especially if they have soft music or ambient sound effects in the background.

And what if you have literary but not musical talent? Then you're screwed?
>>

spoken word? rap? most pop music but with random interludes? try having someone beatbox in the background.
>>
>>25454339
Well I'm one of them.

Buy some issues of some current mags. You'll find maybe two or three excellent, ideologically tolerable pieces in each one. Then, buy a full collection from one of those poets you can seemingly tolerate. Couldn't really tell you who the best is. There are so many active poets today. Too many to sift through for some sort of ranking system.
