Have you ever stole book from one of these ?
They’re mostly how I dispose of books when I’m done with them. Sometimes a book is so shit I throw it in the garbage, instead.
>>25457110when I was in my early 20's, I printed copies of Mein Kampf and threw them to few of these near the school
>>25457110None worth stealing DESU
>>25457110Plenty of times. Never read one of them.
I always look through them to find books for my kid. That’s all it’s good for. If not picture books for 4-year-olds, it’s nothing but foid slop.
>>25457110Its not stealing if they encourage you to take them. You give donate books to them anytime
>>25457110I put in Damon Knight's Orbit 10 once. I wonder if the person who grabbed it actually read it.
>>25457126Holy fuck you're so fucking based bro
>>25457110Due to shipping errors I wound up with some duplicate books (for free), no one I knew wanted them so I put them in one.
>>25457110I'll go years without returning them, but I always do eventuallyAlso a great way to get rid of books I don't really like anymore
>>25457110I would, but I've never seen anything worthwhile in the ones in my neighborhood.
>>25457110its not stealing if they're free. that said, there's never anything good. I've found two worthwhile books in them, which I did take. (Heidi, Aristotle's Rhetoric)
>>25457110They never have anything worth taking in them, but I'd never steal one, only do the trade, I won't break the trust of my community. Weirdly, people giving stuff away on the street outside their houses here seem to have better books than these trade boxes which mostly seem to have foidslop novels, celebrity biographies and self help books.>>25457126kek based
>>25457110Yeah I take books from them, and then the next time I'm going to walk by that same box I'll bring something to replace it with. I don't usually have extra copies of books on me just in case.My neighborhood has six of them in walking distance, as others have said most of them are kids books, but if you start using them more you can find the "good" ones. They all start to develop their own themes, like one of them near me always has some old litfic in there so that's where I'll put my old litfic when I wanna donate it.
>>25457110No. 99% of the books you find in them are foid slop
>>25457126>printing copies of a seven hundred page long book
>>25457110just dropped off a book cause i didn't like it but knew someone else surely would
>>25457110I took a copy of White Fragility and threw it in the trash. Yes, ironic. Whatever. It was the right thing to do.
how do you steal from a little free library?
>>25457156I have four rugrats and we raid these things all the time. It's a good lesson when deciding what to bring back for someone else to read plus they get exercise walking to them.
>>25457110Never seen anything worth reading in these.
>>25457110Found House of Leaves, Catch 22, Peter Watson's Ideas, and The Lord of The Rings: Volume One Edition from those.
>>25457110you can't steal from those. your thinking is warped.
>>25461132i always empty all the books out and then sell them at the charity store
>>25461267If you're emptying them and selling them for 20 bucks, then you need the money. Just don't do it all the time.
>>25460393>how is it stealing if i downloaded it for free online?
>>25461581It says right on the website that you can keep the books you take. Just don't be a dick and never put anything back.
>>25457110After I write a book, I print copies and put it in the boxes around my city.
I took a book about watergate out of one once, I didn’t know you were supposed to bring them back and I never did. That’s the only time I’ve ever used one of these things in my life
