Not literature

Fun, action, and edge. One of the only decent webnovels, and the best that any capeshit media has to offer. Not that that's saying much.

Goes deeper into technical aspects of superpowers than mainstream Marvel/DC stuff. Also has fewer moral or politically correct boundaries than most fiction from recent decades.

MC's superpower has some bullshit moments later on. I never finished it, but don't regret reading most of it.

Kino ending, but inconsistent. If you get through Arc 9(? or whichever is the Leviathan fight) and don't like it, then don't bother continuing. But if you do get the far, it's worth pushing through some of the low points all the way to the ending.

You're about to meet the best girl i. all of fiction -- Lisa.

Wildbow is a cautionary tale against the webnovel format. If he'd written a normal series he'd be raking in the cash from big screen and streaming adaptations, but because he made himself hostage to mentally ill online posters he has become trapped in a prison where he is only allowed to write melodramas about queer children who call grown men racist because they don't want to fuck their moms.

The top 1% of webslop, which isn't saying much. I had fun with Worm but never finished it. I enjoyed Pale Lights and A Practical Guide to Evil more.

I think he just mismanaged his financial operations after he got popular. There were many things he could have done that nowadays make self published with a fraction of his popularity earn many times what he did. He could have actually published a revised version of Worm as actual books: audiobooks, epubs, paper versions. By himself or through a publisher -- success was guaranteed, so they would have sucked his dick at the time to get him to pick them. He could have sold the rights to a movie/series/animated film: imagine if we got Worm instead of Invincible or The Boys back during the recent capeshit reassurance. Would have been so kino.
Could have actually managed his Patreon with the multiple tiers, a few chapters being published there ahead of the curve and all the standard crap. The guy still somehow earns 4k eur a month and his last post was from 2016. Imagine what he could have earned if he did all the right moves after getting popular.
Last but not least, he could have reduced his expenses. Mostly by moving away from Canada. In some countries, even some Western countries, 4k a month is good money. He can write his politically correct grimdark just as well, while sipping a cocktail at a sunny beach in Greece, Portugal, Spain, Italy, or even France. But maybe then he couldn't match his usual grimdark after a while, and that's why he didn't do it, who knows.

He's French-Canadian. This explains his stubborn self defeating nature on its own.

>capeshit reassurance
resurgence, of course. This is what phoneposting gets me

Get with the times, old man. Serialized webfiction is the future of literature, and Worm is a really good story.

>>25460779
You have not and never will read Proust.

>>25460779
You're more likely to meet a cute girl who has read this than Proust

True but would you want to date a girl who's read worm cover to cover?
