how does /lit/ feel about ai in books? I don't actually read books so I don't know. I just want to hear what other people think
>>
I am glad AI happened because I was never creative enough for writing or arts. Now I can just use AI or accuse other people of using AI.
>>

I think I'd enjoy it a lot of someone took a tire iron and broke Sam Altman's skull open.
>>
What's going to be really annoying is when NYC hipsters start deliberately doing this LE IRONICALLY as a statement against consumerism or some shit
>>
>>25459901
If you time it right you could be the first to do it successfully and become a gazillionaire

>A Nabokovian or Flann O'Brien-esque novel where the writer must battle against ChatGPT as he attempts to write his novel/magnum opus and ChatGPT attempts to overwrite or edit portions of the manuscript
Who's gonna do it? F. Gardner?
>>
I think if a 2100 historian looked back they would probably say that 2000 marked the beginning of the decline in Western culture, 2010 was a midpoint in the decline, and 2020 was the point where it was fully dead and gone and replaced with nothing but degenerate self referential material
>>
It already disgusts me when it comes to programming so take a wild guess.
>>
>>25461002
That's retarded for a million different reasons
>>
>>25461005
>wild guess
Seeing AI prompts in text makes you masturbate furiously while you imagine Grok penetrating your poop hole?
>>
>>25461010
I bet it is. I'll wait for your credits to reset if you ever feel like having Claude elucidate. And I'll wait for Gemini to explain to you what elucidate means. Go ahead.
>>
>>25460993
I'd read that.
>>
>>25459862
If you're at risk of reading a book written by AI, it's because you exclusive read slop and deserve what you get.
Same when people complain about AI in their movies and art. If you consoom slop, expect slop. You reap what you sow.
>>
>>25461042
I'm going to make AI do a translation of The Iliad and claim it as mine own.
>>
>>25461014
Emotional incontinence isn't an argument
>>
>>25461051
It's cute that you think we're "arguing," I'm guessing Grok hasn't had a chance to explain that concept to you, or maybe you're hallucinating. Credits reset yet, ready to process this reply?
>>

It's from a travel guide https://www.amazon.com/Pitigliano-Sunlight-Complete-Etruscan-Streets/dp/B0GPWS3C9D.
Though you can tell from the cover.

>white hand

What the fuck is going on
>>
>>25461068
Why did you use ai to write this lmfao
>>
>>25461002
>Society happened to peak when I was a child, and declined as I aged
There's plenty of shit-takes repeated ad nauseum on this website, but this one really pisses me off. Autistic people shouldn't be allowed to converse with normal people.

Octavia Grant isn’t the one who took the photo, she got it from one of the reviews here >>25461080

I think that AI, especially when it comes to fiction, can't write anything of any kind of worth since AI has no intelligence and it has no imagination. Only thing it can do is search for 100 related books/ articles and synthesize them into 1 text based on semanthics, syntax and rules programmed into it. It cannot entice a feeling behind a sentence or behind a novel. It cannot provoke strong feelings towards what we read as most great authors do. All it can do is mimic texts that were fed into training it. The text that AI writes reads hollow, soulless, without a strong point that stays with a mind that reads it, it feels like some placeholder wall of text that fills up the void with slop.
>>
>>25461042
Many of the posts you read on 4chan are AI generated, faggot.
>>
>>25461187
And I don't engage seriously with anything on 4chan. Why did my comment make you seethe so much, Raj?
>>
>>25459862
Disgusting and indicative that you have nothing to say without the computer spitting something out for you. Forcing people to read automatically generated drivel is a waste of their time. I consider it disrespectful to the reader and to the author themselves.
>>
>me, disappointed as a horror writer
The easiest way to the book is written by AI is to spot straightforward plot, flat character design, overly "polished" style and bonus: excessive use of labels.
>>
>>25461351
>get it, i used ai in an ironic way here :P
>>
>>25459862
I think AI is good at analyzing and pointing out things that might need to be edited but I would not trust it in doing the edits itself.
>>
i would never waste my time reading statistically generated AIslop. writing and reading is enjoyable because there is soul in it. my coworker will sometimes have technical convos with AI for programming architecture or something and then expect me to read the same thing. fuck that
>>
>>25461346
You're an AI slop consumer like the rest, retard, including your shitty regurgitated memespeak about seething indians.

There's AI-generated posts on 4chan?! Welp, I guess the slurs are the only way to tell if a post was written by a human...

>I was born in 2000 and as far as I’m concerned nothing of note happened before then
