He wasn’t really right wing at all, very consistently liberal (except for being a Zionist but we all know Jews keep different rules when they’re amongst each other vs amongst goyim) and only fell out with the left over the school of resentment everything is subjective and intersectional stuff where you have to overpraise art purely because it comes from minorities, he was still otherwise very decidedly liberal politically (He was supportive of gays well before it was Democratic Party policy for example). We can (rightfully) admonish his Jewishness, but at the end of the day his main interest was a genuine passion for literature and artistic beauty.
